he is not saying god exists afaik. what he's saying is that people should see ethics as flowing from some form of higher entity in order to follow those moral guidelines.
and he criticizes globalism for being too big to unite people. he says that's why nationalism is on the rise because globalism (with liberalism, a world without borders and national identities) has failed to unite humans because they feel like they don't exist in something that big. nationalism gives them the feeling of their existence. it's something people can identify with unlike globalism.
