Can we read .epub or PDF files we downloaded from torrent websites or does it only support ebooks purchased from the Kindle Store?
You can sideload downloaded ebooks. Either via kindle app on mobile or sent files to your kindle email or via Calibre on PC. But I prefer to read only .epub or .mobi formats. You can read pdf files but need to zoom, specially textbooks since display is only 6 inches. With low refresh rates it's really a hassle to read pdf textbooks. I use ipad to read pdf textbooks and kindle to read novels.

Is this sideloading method compatible with newer Kindle versions? Yesterday I bought a book from BMICH for Rs. 4,300, but I can easily find the .epub file online. I don't understand the point of spending so much money on physical books when you can find pirated .epub files and read on Paperwhite. I know it's illegal but we live in a third world country. I'm thinking about buying a Paperwhite and pirate all the ebooks.

You can buy books from Amazon but still prices comparable with printed versions. You can pirate most of the books. If you don't want to pirate book you can borrow ebooks via library apps (Ex: Libby) Never tried that. I think you need to have a library card in US for that. New Kidle Paperwhite is about 50000/= I think. This month price skyrocketed. Better to wait and buy kindle on Black Friday deals on Amazon. You can get about 50% discount.

But still I think you can't beat the feeling of reading a printed proper book.

    ගොඩක් publisher ලා සැප්තැම්බර් (National Literacy Month) වලට 20% discount දෙනවා.

Is buying an e-ink reader worth it? I just read books on my iPad mini 3 and mini 7 just because it syncs the reading position everywhere and comes with the dictionary. I've always wanted to try out an e-ink display but all the videos on YT show how laggy they are. Currently I use an iPad Mini 3 specifically to read books because it is so old so nothing else works on it (so no unwanted distractions) and the battery lasts for days. Just wondering if the e-ink screen is worth it for the asking price. What is your experience?
