you've interpreted what I meant in incorrect way.
I specifically stated in the comment 'tuk tuk', not 'taxis'. proper implemented taxi system is essential for the country. that's a must.
This 'tuk tuk' craze in sri lanka is a cancer to the public transport as much as buses are.
So stating what I meant in the previous comment with bit more clarity, We must reduced 'tuk tuks' and move to 'company managed proper taxi services', just like we have to do with private busses.

I agree with company managed taxis. On the otherhand, when you say reduce Tuktuks does it mean you repkace threewheelers by cars? I don't know if that is actually possible with our current income levels. Tuk tuk is relatively cheaper than cars.

replacing three wheels by cars (kei cars - wagon r) has to implemented eventually, not in two three years. may be in next 10 years.
if you form taxi companies, they will also invest for small cars (gov can cut tax for used hybrid kei cars imported specifically for taxi services), doesn't have to rely on someone already owns a tuk will lend tuks for them.
