I guess you're asking main outstations from Colombo rather than small towns.

I guess it is Kurunegala. It was going to be the 2nd largest city in Sri lanka, if the crisis didn't happen and the highway was connected to Kadawatha.

If you're asking small towns, plenty of better cities are located even in the western province.
