It's not a traditional gear box because it doesn't have an engine. What they say is they have two "Gears" and the second one gives more boots. So this is the same as an electric cake beater. Just control the power from the electric motor (it's more complicated than it sounds). You can read it on their web site.

Still, it is a gearbox/ transmission system. isn't it? definition of gear will explain everything and it will contradict your statement as well. and for the record formula-e cars has up to 5 gears.

If you count D,P,R as gears then they are really not gears. Engineering of electric cars are completely different from cars with combustion engines. So no electric cars do not have gears. They may look like gears but really not gears as I mentioned earlier they do not have engines.

gears are used when torque conversion is needed and that is what exactly do by tycan gearbox. and who count DPR as gears. anyway I'm going to end my conversation here as this thread is not the place to discuss gears. so long.
