If you are thinking of Contracetion only the following are OK. (Condoms give protection against STDs )
Contraception are of 2 types -
1- Long term - Very safe and effective
Intrauterine device (copper T or Loop) or Intrauterine System (Marena) - both can be inserted by a family planning clinic. works for 5 years +
Implants - under the skin of arm. can be inserted by a family planing clinic (MOH) - works for 3 years
2- Short term
Pills - Combined pills (mithuri) or Progesteron only pills.
Contraceptive Patches - (Weekly )
Vaginal Rings (monthly)
DMPA injections - 3 monthly - given by a private doctor / Family planning clinic
Withdrawal- is NOT secure
Counting days / safe period is not Effective at all as proper methods
Emergency contraception
-Postinor 1 /2 - possible to fail. works by delaying ovulation and does not work if the girl has already ovulated)
Need to be taken within 72 hours. sooner the better.
- Copper T as Emerg contraception - can work up to 5 days after sex - need to get via a family planning clinic / VOG
