The SLFP won a decisive victory at the general election in July 1960, and she became prime minister.

Now this shit got little messed up. We weren't officially called Sri Lanka until 70s afaik. The bloody constitution came only in 78 right. So did we have two names back then. Must have been really awkward. Come to think of it where the f*** did we get the name Sri Lanka from.

No, 1978 constitution replaced the 1972 constitution. In 1972, CEYLON becomes Republic of Sri Lanka under that constitution.

Since then, there are lots of arguments about the word "sri" which pronounce as ස්‍රී, and the letter ශ්‍රී should be written as "shri".
