yes, but arduino is the IDE and library made for atmel chip.

programming Atmel in atmel studio & doing it with arduino are two different thing.

with arduino, you will do lot of things with ease as long as there are libraries.

if we dont have a library, only few will able to make their own and proceed.

I have done many interviews with candidates who used arduino. all they know is how to read a sensor using arduino library.

they didnt even know what the sensor sends to the board or board sends to it.
