Does it matter much? Even if Ranil shows the majority, only President can appoint the PM.
Ranil can bring forward a motion of no confidence against Mahinda, and win it and oust the incumbent PM.
Can he do anything more than that constitutionally?
But even then, are there any provisions in constitutions that a person who has the majority in the parliament can demand the PM position from the president?
This show only gets interesting![]()
