This is exactly what I was aiming at by writing this (below) in an earlier post in this thread....though I didn't mention what the condition was. That needs proper diagnosis. Apart from Pulsatile tinnitus (caused by blood circulating in or near your ear), other forms have to be properly diagnosed. No DIY methods. What you have is not Pulsatile tinnitus from what you say.

Oh.. Take a break. Go somewhere for a week. High frequency you hear can be quite intermittent. It can be a precursor to some underlying health issue. So you got to eliminate whether it's your environment or something else that causes it. That's the most logical approach.
(What you hear is not exactly what your auditory system picks up, like as in a microphone. It's the brain that interprets the signal)
