For Sri Lanka short to medium term solution is allowing only to import hybrid vehicles so we can reduce fuel consumption (oil imports) and carbon emissions.
With current economic situation, we will not be able to build enough Infrastructure to support all electric vehicles. So for next 10-15 years our priority should be reducing dependency on oil and slowly building infrastructure to support electric vehicles.
We also need to start creating prope technical
training courses for hybrid/electric car maintenance. Reason Srilankans reluctant to buy hybrid is most car maintenance technicians don't know how to do it properly.
