එකෙකුට වැඩිකලාම අනිත් උන් ගේම... අනෙ අමන්දා අපේ රට.Key Demands of the GMOA
The union has outlined five core demands that they want the government to resolve immediately:
- Establishment of the "Sri Lanka Medical Service": A request to create a unique service category for doctors with a dedicated salary structure, similar to the status held by the Judiciary and Attorney General’s services.
- Update to the DAT Allowance: A call to revise and increase the Disturbance, Availability, and Transport (DAT) allowance.
- Implementation of Circular 22/99: Ensuring doctors receive the same transport benefits (drivers, vehicles, and fuel) provided to other state-sector executive officers.
- Fixed Extra Duty Allowance: Converting the current extra duty payments into a fixed allowance to prevent administrative delays and "harassment."
- Research Allowance Resolution: Implementing previously agreed-upon solutions regarding research allowances for medical professionals.
- Addressing the Specialist Shortage: The GMOA has highlighted that over 2,500 specialists have left the country in the last two years and is demanding a concrete plan to stabilize the workforce.
