Because our law is based on ancient 19th century British law, and he was arrested for contempt of court, which is an old British law from 1833 that should have been changed a long time ago. In fact, Britain abandoned it in 2013, while we still carry these centuries old British laws.

I don't give 2 fucks about random no one's assumptions on me... lobbying take time! They have to approach through someone who can influence Maithree to release Gnanarasa. This peaceful protest is also going to take time to show results!
