Its too early to say he is nt good enf at test level. He has only played 7 matches so far. Frm the signs i hv seen he has a role in the team as a wkt keeper batsman.. I like the way he plays the game.. Always to look to score runs put opposition under pressure. It might not always work. But when it comes off he can help you to win matches like he did in last against zim.

Having said that there are areas he needs to improve. I'm sure he will. He has the potential and good head. Thats the most important thing. If ur going to do chopping and changing like we have done in the recent past we are not going any where.

So we need to identify who are the potential players who can win you matches and back them. They might fail on and off but you need to stick with them. Eventually they will come good. Only thing you need to give them proper guidance and confidence.

Alright, some of the facts you're bringing are true. Its true we should give confidence for the players. But the fact I was talking about is, we need to identify the players who are capable for the correct format.

There are more potential test players available in SL such as Sadeera, Roshen etc. For an example, take a look at India, their playing with KL Rahul, Pujara, Mukund, Saha... they are Test specialist and they are No.1 side.

We dnt have huge amount of talented players like in india.. We hv only limited resources.. Roshen i think he is nt a wkt keeper batsman. Sadeera is a opening batsman i think.

the problem starts with bringing batsmen who are half wicket keepers. neither of them are professional at the job.when we brings those and perform poorly we think cause he is carrying the burden of keeping wickets .
then what we do? we retain him with the team as a batsman taking him out of keeping wickets. now we have kusal mendis ,kusal perera ,chandimal and dickwella when all of them included in the team with likes of Dimuth and tharanga we have no part timers.mathews very rarely bowls even then only if he is the captain if he is nt he wouldnt.
why part timers needed in tests ?cause to break the rhythm , bring batsman into a weak focus zone and at last to fill the overs when bowlers are tired or when a player gets injured. we cant offered to go with just 4 bowlers when we play this much wicket keepers in the side leaving just asela gune as an option (although here we have danushka).. cause we have very much injury prone bowling line up.it doeznt matter with india either we go with 5 or 4 results will be pretty much the same but going forward this issue needs to be answered in a proper manner

Chandimals keeping is not good enough.. And its nt easy to bat at 4 after keeping in tests. Kusal is good.. I dnt knw he is in the squad or not.. Kusal used to struggle against spin in the past.. If he has overcome that then certainly he is a option..

Agree.. Same as our allrounder theory.. Niether they cnt bat nor ball
