I agree with you on that regard.

But there are two ways of making something profitable. 1 Reduce all expenses to diminish the amount of loss 2. Or increase the revenue utilizing the most competitive market with highest demand.

Business Models designed using that latter strategy are the most effective in terms of profit making in current times. Why, i don't know. That is how business works in these days. Concept of Budget Airlines came up literally because of this.

So this is what Sri Lankan placed their bet on. Attempting to increase their revenue with selling their already established well reputed Business Class. This is a product that even most 5 star airlines are having problems to compete with.

Therefore offering that product utilizing A350s is definitely a fail-safe strategy.

But then why it failed ? Because of Politics. Just because of Politics.

Agreed, My query was that, during previous CEO's time no one raised any concern seeing Srilankan goes down hill. Was there any business plan for last 10 years? never heard of ?? Now everyone talks, at current situation it will be a huge task to turn around and make it viable, re-structuring work force is a must. Interesting to see who will take up that challenge..!

Yes there were a plan during the previous government.
their strategy was to replace the fleet with all new aircrafts and run the airline with the support of the government. But now strategies have changed. Government is no more funding the Airline and airline has to make their own money to run. To achieve that Airline has to take some cost reducing actions like reduce the staff, stop the unprofitable destinations, etc.. etc.. and for the good side, Airline already had reduced their costs for the past few years.

Pilots Arrested On Suspicion Of Being Drunk


Two pilots have been arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol shortly before they were due to fly a transatlantic passenger jet.

Concerns over the pair's behaviour were raised at Glasgow Airport shortly before the Air Transat A310 with 250 passengers on board was due to depart for Toronto on Monday afternoon.
Officers arrested the men, aged 37 and 39, on suspicion of being "impaired through alcohol" before they were due to take off at 1pm.
Police Scotland said the pair will appear in custody at Paisley Sheriff Court later.


The Canadian airline confirmed the arrests and said passengers had been put up in hotels while alternative flights were arranged.
A spokesman said: "Air Transat has learned of the arrest on 18 July of two crew members assigned to its Glasgow-Toronto flight.
"We will await the results of the investigation and judicial proceedings before commenting on the matter before making any further comments.
"The safety of our crews and passengers is, and will remain, a top priority at Air Transat."


Passengers who complained on social media about being delayed were told by the airline: "For operational reasons we have no choice."
A rescheduled flight is expected to leave on Tuesday.
