In the lead-up to Sri Lanka's 2024 presidential election, the two main candidates are A.K. Dissanayake, leader of the National People's Power (NPP) and Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), and Sajith Premadasa, leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB). As of mid-2024, both candidates are running neck and neck in opinion polls, with Dissanayake holding a slight lead earlier in the year but support leveling out as the election draws closer. President Ranil Wickremesinghe and a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) candidate also have a presence, though they trail significantly behind the two frontrunners.
