Wanasinghe commssion in early 2002 recommended that govt service was not productive due to low salary and too many officers to do the same, this and that led the UNF govt of that time stop new recruits. But this decision was very unpopular and they lost the election when CBK illegally dissolved the UNF govt before its term and grabbed the power .
So long before IMF our Salary Revision Commission had recommended this. But unfortunately MR from 2005-2015 increased the Govt servants by unprecedented numbers!!
So what is important is not whether it is said by IMF, or our experts , but what is correct thing to do ? answer lies with your ballot too. So you got the govt you deserved. Whose fault? IMF or voters . You decide.
