Don't you feel hot in all that clothing?

Question: Don't you feel hot in all that clothing?
Muslim men and women often adopt a modest style of dress that seems conservative to some people. Seeing a Muslim dressed like this, especially in the scorching summer sun, prompts this oft-repeated question.
Answer: In many ways, covering the body protects it from the heat of direct sunlight. Notice that the traditional dress in many desert climates consists of loose, flowing robes. In loose clothing, the air around the body flows freely and cools more readily. The choice of fabric covering the body is more important than the square inches/centimeters exposed or covered. And when people have been wearing this type of clothing for many years, the body get used to it.
On extremely hot days, we might be uncomfortable as is everyone else. During those times, we find comfort knowing that we are following what we believe to be God's guidance for us.

Islamic Dress Code -- Why Does She Dress Like That?

    by WordsAplenty
So many people see a Muslim woman dressed in head to toe and think, "Oppressed! He's forcing her to dress like that." "He" refers, of course, to her dictator of a husband. After all, no woman would shun mini skirts, tank tops, and shorts of her own free will. No thinking woman would wear long sleeves and pants in the heat of summer. If a woman is dressed like that she is obviously either brainwashed or beaten. Right?
Wrong. I am an American, born and raised in a free country. Growing up, I was encouraged to wear make-up and dress provocatively. I was always told, "If you've got it, flaunt it." So, I flaunted it.
Then, I grew up and starting questioning life, religion, and morals. Though my husband introduced me to Islam and Muslims, he didn't force me to accept either. I became a Muslim on my own accord. I chose to dress conservatively.
    Koran Advises Modesty

If you ask a Muslim woman why she dresses the way she does, the answer will often be, "Because Allah told me to." She isn't trying to be flip; she's trying to follow her religion. The Koran advises men and women to "lower your gaze and guard your modesty." Both men and women are given explicit instructions about the parts of the body that should be covered in mixed company. The way they interpret those instructions varies greatly. Some women wear a heavy cloak-like garment that only reveals their eyes (niqab). Other women wear tent-like coverings over their clothes and a scarf (hijab) on their heads. Still others wear the hijab over conservative Western wear. For me, conservative looks like this:
    • Long sleeve shirts extending at least to mid-thigh.
    • Long, loose pants.
    • Long, loose skirts extending to the ankle.
    • Long, loose dresses extending to the ankle.
    • No low necklines.
    • No see-through materials.
    • No clingy materials.
    • Little to no make-up.
    • Neatly groomed hair.
There are Muslims who would say that my dress is not conservative enough. Many would say that my hair should be covered. Some say that pants are forbidden (haram) for a Muslim woman. I feel that my clothes conceal my figure and that they do meet the requirements. Now, I am not a scholar and I am not trying to issue a religious ruling (fatwa). If I am wrong, may Allah forgive me and guide me.
    Modern Reasons for Modesty

Although many Muslim women simply accept the rules at face value, I am a bit more hard-headed than a born Muslim. I have already changed my religion before-- I don't accept things blindly. So, I look to more real-life, modern reasons for the things I do. Here are some reasons to dress conservatively:
    • People look at you, not your breasts, bottom, or legs.
    • People judge you based on your opinions or personality, not your shape.
    • Men do not usually hit on a conservatively dressed woman.
    • People actually listen when you speak.
    • Most people treat you with respect.
    • You save your sensuality and beauty for the one who truly matters -- your husband.
There are also benefits for the family and for society. I will address those in another blog.
The next time you see a covered woman, try to think of her in a new way. Avoid the temptation to assume that she is oppressed by a tyrannical religion. Consider the possibility that she is an intelligent, thinking woman who has made a conscious decision to dress like that.

    Until next time... Assalamu Alaikoum!

    1. She had to show her face to me in the exam to prove her identity

For a valid reason they are bound to! So?

    2. She has to remove her face cover when seeing patients, as well as her gloves

    Of course! So?

    3. She had to take the whole thing off and dress in a normal theatre kit when she was doing surgery appointments. It exposes hands and feet.

Safety practice must be followed! So?

    4. Children were afraid of the kit and start calling her "goni billa"

Children? Then you also join with the children and on children’s' day also say "goni billa"! Hope you're not a small child!

    5. And when she finally becomes a doctor, she want be allowed to work in the full hijab in SL, because you have to show your face to the patient, so patient can recognize you a his/her doctor.

    Of course! so?

    6. Finally, it will take one more suicide bomber in a hijab to get it banned in SL. If Muslims cannot temporarily ban hiajb until the war is over (because any fool will know how easy to place a suicide bomb in them), if they are thinking first as Sri Lankan. But unfortunately every where Islamists think as Muslims first and think secondly about country.
Great. Show me the verse in the Koran that a woman can show her face to a unknown man due to any reason. Some on! Show e without fishing around.

  • Now the 1st and 6th statement contradicts!
How? 1st is an actual situation. 6th is a hypothetical one, but may become true.

1st one says for security reason has to show the face!
She was a medical student, not a suice bomber you jack ass!
6th one says because one person is a hijab suicide bomber! Should all not where hijab?

So if that is a problem then check the ID and Identify! What the big deal?
And try checking the identity of a suicide bomber! They'll expose themselves to you to be identified. Are you living on Mars? Once you try to check the identity, they'll blow your up in to pieces. Then you can rest in pieces with the bomber (not necessary to be a muslim or a woman, any LTTE cardre can come inside a hijab because no one sees whether the person is male or female)

First of all why a believing woman should wear the hijab? Do you know that reason?

The hijab has been recommended for the women so that they are recognized as modest women and this will also prevent them from being molested. It’s not just for the sake for Allah!

Whom do you think is commanding the believing woman to where the hijab? The Muslim Men? Then you are wrong! It’s Allah’s command! If the believing woman don’t accepts it! And follow her way, they are failures! As to a man or woman who is a Muslim will not agree Allah’s commands? I don’t think so!

Ask any Muslim woman “will you disagree with Allah’s command?”

For a valid or general reason to a believing woman can show her face! That is normal! But the believing woman should lower their gaze and guard their modesty! There should be respects! As stated in the Holy Quraan:

“And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof………” (24:31)

She was a medical student, not a suice bomber you jack ass!

Whatever! In general reason is allowed!

So shame shame shame! 31 year old Mr.Doc! Be calm and use nice words! I wonder how you treat the patients!

No. I don't. Those reasons are tired of being heard and stupid analogies are a real arse pain.

This you have told over and over again, and I have shown over and over again it's not fair.

Once again you are becoming lauging stock. Allah's commands we know which gender oriented. Don't get me started. And Allah's all commands were communicated through men (Except few Hadiths I think). So there is so much of male prepnderence. The most intruging part is why Allah is so male oriented:rofl:

You Liar! You just quoted half of the verse and tried to prove your point. Learn this, this is Chapter 24, verse 31 from Light.
[24.30]Say to the believing men that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts; that is purer for them; surely Allah is Aware of what they do.
[24.31] And say to the believing women that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts and do not display their ornaments except what appears thereof, and let them wear their head-coverings over their bosoms, and not display their ornaments except to their husbands or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or those whom their right hands possess, or the male servants not having need (of women), or the children who have not attained knowledge of what is hidden of women; and let them not strike their feet so that what they hide of their ornaments may be known; and turn to Allah all of you, O believers! so that you may be successful.

There you can see who are the ones that Muslim woman can show their private parts, that including their face. I.E. There is no clause called teacher, examiner, superior there. And it totally excludes the non-believing male

    Then it’s an unavoidable circumstance!
It's only unavoidable for extremists who cannot give up hijab for the sake of country.

And excuse me! No political party or anybody has the right to ban the hijab! It’s a religious belief! And it will never happen!
Why not? If the majority are in a great danger because of a minority, they should be forced to do what is due. And it had been banned in France as a part of the school unifirm, and other countries are taking cues from it. Even if it is a religous belief, if that's primitive and inhuman, it should be banned. The problem is not with the woman, but the Islam who had prescribed such a dress, where terrorists can use with ease.

Why does Islam degrade women by keeping them behind the veil? PART 1

    Question:
Why does Islam degrade women by keeping them behind the veil?
    Answer:
The status of women in Islam is often the target of attacks in the secular media. The ‘hijab’ or the Islamic dress is cited by many as an example of the
‘subjugation’ of women under Islamic law. Before we analyze the reasoning
behind the religiously mandated ‘hijab’, let us first study the status of women insocieties before the advent of Islam
    1. In the past women were degraded and used as objects of lust
The following examples from history amply illustrate the fact that the status of women in earlier civilizations was very low to the extent that they were denied basic human dignity:
    a. Babylonian Civilization:The women were degraded and were denied all rights under the Babylonian
law. If a man murdered a woman, instead of him being punished, his wife
    was put to death.
    b. Greek Civilization:Greek Civilization is considered the most glorious of all ancient civilizations.
Under this very ‘glorious’ system, women were deprived of all rights and
were looked down upon. In Greek mythology, an ‘imaginary woman’ called
‘Pandora’ is the root cause of misfortune of human beings. The Greeks
considered women to be subhuman and inferior to men. Though chastity of
women was precious, and women were held in high esteem, the Greeks
were later overwhelmed by ego and sexual perversions. Prostitution
became a regular practice amongst all classes of Greek society.
    c. Roman Civilization:When Roman Civilization was at the zenith of its ‘glory’, a man even had the right to take the life of his wife. Prostitution and nudity were common amongst the Romans.
    d. Egyptian Civilization:The Egyptian considered women evil and as a sign of a devil.
    e. Pre-Islamic Arabia:Before Islam spread in Arabia, the Arabs looked down upon women and very often when a female child was born, she was buried alive.
    2. Islam uplifted women and gave them equality and expects them
    to maintain their status.
Islam uplifted the status of women and granted them their just rights 1400 years ago. Islam expects women to maintain their status.
    Hijab for men
People usually only discuss ‘hijab’ in the context of women. However, in the
Glorious Qur’an, Allah (swt) first mentions ‘hijab’ for men before ‘hijab’ for thewomen. The Qur’an mentions in Surah Noor:
“Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard
their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is
well acquainted with all that they do.”
    [Al-Qur’an 24:30]
The moment a man looks at a woman and if any brazen or unashamed thoughtcomes to his mind, he should lower his gaze.
    Hijab for women.
The next verse of Surah Noor, says:
“ And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and
guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and
ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they
should draw veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty
except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their
    sons...”
    [Al-Qur’an 24:31]
    3. Six criteria for Hijab.
According to Qur’an and Sunnah there are basically six criteria for observing
    hijab:
    1. Extent:The first criterion is the extent of the body that should be covered. This isdifferent for men and women. The extent of covering obligatory on the maleis to cover the body at least from the navel to the knees. For women, theextent of covering obligatory is to cover the complete body except the faceand the hands upto the wrist. If they wish to, they can cover even these
parts of the body. Some scholars of Islam insist that the face and the hands
are part of the obligatory extent of ‘hijab’.All the remaining five criteria are the same for men and women.
    2. The clothes worn should be loose and should not reveal the figure.
    3. The clothes worn should not be transparent such that one can see through
    them.
    4. The clothes worn should not be so glamorous as to attract the opposite sex.
    5. The clothes worn should not resemble that of the opposite sex.
    6. The clothes worn should not resemble that of the unbelievers i.e. they
should not wear clothes that are specifically identities or symbols of the
    unbelievers’ religions.

    4. Hijab includes conduct and behaviour among other things
Complete ‘hijab’, besides the six criteria of clothing, also includes the moral
conduct, behaviour, attitude and intention of the individual. A person only
fulfilling the criteria of ‘hijab’ of the clothes is observing ‘hijab’ in a limited sense.‘Hijab’ of the clothes should be accompanied by ‘hijab’ of the eyes, ‘hijab’ of theheart, ‘hijab’ of thought and ‘hijab’ of intention. It also includes the way a personwalks, the way a person talks, the way he behaves, etc.
    5. Hijab prevents molestation
The reason why Hijab is prescribed for women is mentioned in the Qur’an in the following verses of Surah Al-Ahzab:
“O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women
that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when
abroad); that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such)
and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
    [Al-Qur’an 33:59]
The Qur’an says that Hijab has been prescribed for the women so that they are recognized as modest women and this will also prevent them from being molested.
    6. Example of twin sisters
Suppose two sisters who are twins, and who are equally beautiful, walk down the street. One of them is attired in the Islamic hijab i.e. the complete body is covered, except for the face and the hands up to the wrists. The other sister is wearing western clothes, a mini skirt or shorts. Just around the corner there is a hooligan or ruffian who is waiting for a catch, to tease a girl. Whom will he tease? The girl wearing the Islamic Hijab or the girl wearing the skirt or the mini? Naturally he will tease the girl wearing the skirt or the mini. Such dresses are an indirect invitation to the opposite sex for teasing and molestation. The Qur’an rightly says that hijab prevents women from being molested.
    7. Capital punishment for the rapists
Under the Islamic shariah, a man convicted of having raped a woman, is given capital punishment. Many are astonished at this ‘harsh’ sentence. Some even say that Islam is a ruthless, barbaric religion! I have asked a simple question to hundreds of non-Muslim men. Suppose, God forbid, someone rapes your wife, your mother or your sister. You are made the judge and the rapist is brought in front of you. What punishment would you give him? All of them said they would put him to death. Some went to the extent of saying they would torture him to death. To them I ask, if someone rapes your wife or your mother you want to put him to death. But if the same crime is committed on somebody else’s wife or daughter you say capital punishment is barbaric. Why should there be double standards?
    8. Western society falsely claims to have uplifted women
Western talk of women’s liberalization is nothing but a disguised form of
exploitation of her body, degradation of her soul, and deprivation of her honour. Western society claims to have ‘uplifted’ women. On the contrary it has actually degraded them to the status of concubines, mistresses and society butterflies who are mere tools in the hands of pleasure seekers and sex marketeers, hidden behind the colourful screen of ‘art’ and ‘culture’.
    9. USA has one of the highest rates of rape
United States of America is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries
of the world. It also has one of the highest rates of rape in any country in the
world. According to a FBI report, in the year 1990, every day on an average
1756 cases of rape were committed in U.S.A alone. Later another report said
that on an average everyday 1900 cases of rapes are committed in USA. The
year was not mentioned. May be it was 1992 or 1993. May be the Americans
got ‘bolder’ in the following years.Consider a scenario where the Islamic hijab is followed in America. Whenever a man looks at a woman and any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he lowers his gaze. Every woman wears the Islamic hijab, that is the complete body is covered except the face and the hands upto the wrist. After this if any man commits rape he is given capital punishment. I ask you, in such a scenario, will the rate of rape in America increase, will it remain the same, or will it decrease?
    10. Implementation of Islamic Shariah will reduce the rate of rapes
Naturally as soon as Islamic Shariah is implemented positive results will be
inevitable. If Islamic Shariah is implemented in any part of the world, whether it is America or Europe, society will breathe easier. Hijab does not degrade a woman but uplifts a woman and protects her modesty and chastity.

And the idiotic ideas flow. Monk has shot SWRD, and he was identified because his face was not covered. My problem with hijab is it covers the face, which is the best index of identity. Suicide bomber may come as a monk, but any one can see the face of him, unlike a muslim goni billa where you cannot say the thing is even male female or gorilla:rofl: Then who asked all women to dress in bikins? I want every body face to be seen.

And there are some idioys who cannot understand a basic!
