Well, no opinion at all, because I am not that much interested in these.
However, as per the "law" a copyrighted song can be used for an advertising ONLY for 7 seconds
(anyone remember SONY BMG suing Dialog Telikom over the KIT adv (song of Ricky Martin & Christina - Nobody wants to be Lonely)
and as for "brand placement" - I think that's the fancy name they use for Promoting brands inside Music videos / Telivision shows........they have only 4 seconds to "SPOT" a product ( I am not really sure about the TIME) but it can be done only 3 times within a certain video/show !
::again, I am not sure about the last timing and the duration
