Please use the forum responsibly. Anyone can sling mud at institutes, but the results speak for themselves, and people should make the intelligent choice as to where they spend their hard earned money. Ultimately people need to decide based on the following

1. BIT is an academic qualification
2. BCS is a professional qualification, that leads to Chartered Status

Both ultimately qualify you to apply for Post Graduate studies with Masters. You should decide on the course depending on your spending capacity and how much time you can allocate for studies and how fast you can complete it.

* If you want an academic qualification, do BIT.
* If you want to progress fast, do BCS
* If you want to spend minimal money, do BIT
* If your target is employment, both are good
* If your target is higher studies, both are good
* If you want international recognition, BCS is better.

This thread is too long to make a good decision I think... I Did BCS @ Esoft Colombo. The lecturers are well qualified and the Dr.Dayan (CEO of Esoft) is one of the best teachers I've ever met. Go there and you'll recognize that soon.
I have few things to mention..
Choose your subjects according to the field you are interested...
And never apply for a exam unless your 100% ready,, I know this by experience and it'll save your money...
Eg: BCS is so flexible and you can apply for 1 or 2 subjects which you are ready to face,, and do remaining subjects in next term..

When you done BCS Diploma level you can have several options

1. You can enter Final year of any IT Degree (mostly UK ) with BCS diploma. Final year offered in some Sri Lankan institutes for 3.5 lakhs and if you do it in UK it'll cost you around 9 Lakhs.. I'm doing it in UK right now and I can get 2 years post study work visa after completing and then some experiences + money(so 9 lakhs is an investment )

2. You can continue with BCS PGD+ project and enter any IT Msc degree..

So Kasun... go for BCS... you won't regret that decision ...

Yes! Me and My Friends also agree with you... Esoft is the #1 for IT in Sri Lanka..
Go for BCS with Esoft..I made the decision 2 years ago and I'm Quite satisfied with the course materials and the quality of the service provided by Esoft.

completed my BCS diploma last year in SL with Esoft and now I'm doing my final year @ University of Greenwich in UK.
All I can say is BCS is the best...

BCS :- wiyadama serai, kaalaya adui...awrudu eka hamaaren iwara karala M.Sc. karanna puluwan..

BIT :- wiyadama adu, kaalaya minimum 3 years yanawa...BCS walata wediya amaarui.....talent eka thiyenawanam class nogihin self study karala hodata karanna puluwan.......

But i recommend BIT - UCSC....

Esoft nam class yanna epa...meloo rahak ne...mama giya handai kiyanne....ita passe mama class yana eka naththala den self study karanawa...eka hodai boruwata salli wiyadam karanawata wediya....

Machan kasun, colombo ESOFT eke study karapu ekek mama... i've completed BCS last year (i'm proud to say that i didnt fail any subject) one shot thamai & hoping to go to uk for Msc. Thanx to ESOFT lecturers... So dat ESOFT colombo nam ela machan, api study karapu hinda dannawa machan... balapan pass rate eka ehema... qualified lecturers la thamai inne... eka nisa ubata wediya baya wenna deyak nehe... kauru mona kivvath ESOFT ekata gahanna institute ekak nehe ban, because it is the only accredited course provider in sri lanka

Esoft is the Best! IDM has only very poor lectures who are thrown out of esoft. People who praise IDM better try the lecturers like Savinda ( hiks ) Nothing to talk about Matrix. One of my neighbour went there because of the 50% off offer for university students. She is a Maths student in Colombo Uni and She said she was utterly disappointed .

(Lecturers may come and go. Our Dr. Dayan and Mr. Nishan select only the best for us. we believe in them a lot. They never broke our trust and they never will)
