Maybe you shouldn't sell your PC. Use it longer and wait for Quad Core to become cheap.
If you go for a ultra high-end CPU, other components shouldn't let it down. You need the ultra high-end components to justify you going for a Core 2 Extreme.

If you go for a Core 2 Extreme, you better be equipping the PC with 4GB RAM, Geforce 8800GTX etc. Otherwise there is no point.

Core 2 Quad is affordable but adding more than (40000 to the 4GB and 70000 for the VGA is Damn impossible) (It's a bit equal to my current whole machine)

You will only get one core of it for the price you expect it to cost
