Reallyy...I thought the other way round..Thought It was a marketing strategy as ATI goes highends with XT & XTX..?And now it seems a marketing strategy that lowers ATI a bit..
BTW will there be a performance drop if I plugin an ATI card in a SLi environment?Say a X1950XT in a nForce 4 SLIX16..?

ATI's naming is good. XT = Extreme. But XT in nVidia doesn't make any sense.

You won't see a performance drop. But it doesn't make much sense, because if you bought this motherboard because SLI was a feature of it, why go for ATI now? You can buy a 7900GS now and another one later (when the prices come down)

They won't go down in price much. Usually the highest end cards disappear from the market after some time, without reaching US$200 mark.

Yes. That's why rumours are there saying that nVidia will need the 8950GX2 to compete with X2900XTX. But I don't think it will be that bad.

It's not energy efficient than Geforce 7. X19XX cards suck up more juice. A lot more, in fact. Geforce 7950GX2 uses less power than a X1900XTX.
