dude I have the same issue since recently.

I cannot change the brightness in my external monitor, eventhough on my laptop it works perfectly.

try to reinstall nvidia or amd graphics.because external monitor works on gpu.im not expertise.i think its may work

i tried disabling it and enabling it again, it didnt work?

Did you completely uninstall it and installed it back?

Go to decvice manager>display adapter>nvidia>right click>uninstall drivers>restart

Its works to me.google it also.
