no one knows this.... everyone says that is online but even the fund transfers are like that.
this is only known to IT guys and i was told by a good friend who helped to develop the system at Combank....

bank to bank transactions wenne SLIPS (Sri Lanka Inter bank Payment System) eka through.. eka run karanne twice per day. 11 am and 4 pm (not exact times).. normally 10 am walata kalin karana ewa 11 am ekedi wenawa others on 4 pm or next day 10 am
I dont know what happens in other banks, but i exactly know what happens in ComBank system...

you dont machan... go to the E Banking center near the lake house... do you understand y there is a seperate building for E Banking with combank and where all other banks dont..... because they have to house so many people for paymaster / internet banking entry posting and batch running... they take emails / batches / system entries and post to other systems manually... i know cause my firend use to work there and he use to laugh about this and what customers think...
Yasiru.. can you tell me the avarage time gap of initiating a fund transfer to seeing iton the account.... I mean the avarage time. Check and tell us. What I nomally see si the there is a time gap of 5-15 mins. It is because they are processing all find transfers even within combank in batches every 20 mins. The system in not totally online. This is the same for password generation....bill payments and many things....
The guy who developed the new interface was taken to hnb some time back....to all other ppl this doesn't mean that I work at hnb.... the is a guy who keeps on saying I do.... I'm well connected with the industry. ...
He was amazed at how hnb was working according to one hnb developer. He ws saying the combank will never do the things you are doing via systems. ... they will get 2.3 banking trainees to do it manually. ....

he didnt develop single interface in new system.
he was a JAVA programmer and the new interface is on ASP.NET.
morover, it is very simple to run all the stuff online but we are doing that as a batch in every 15 minutes. because of optimization of resources and security.
