    Portable Stereo Squealers

    KmtPYmtwv5FbeWbu.jpg

If your choices for gadgets border on the fun and the cool side of things, then Stereo Squealers may just be one gadget worth looking at. This fun portable speaker set can be connected to a wide range of multimedia devices.

A 3.5 mm head phone socket allows the Stereo Squealers to be conveniently connected into PC's and laptops as well as in most mp3 players.

The Stereo Squealers portable speakers provide 1.6 watts of speaker power each, thanks to 4 AAA batteries. It is good sound quality and performance for such a small set of portable speakers.

But there are other portable speakers that also offer such good quality sound performance you say. But the Stereo Squealers are unique in a different sense. Where do you see speakers shaped as pigs?

Like we said, it is a unique and fun speaker to have. It might even be appealing to add that volume control is located in one of the pig's tails. It's a cool gadget to have for those who like to have fun gadgets like pig speakers.

    Understanding Laptop Size and Weight

Laptops have become quite a common gadget to have nowadays. All the cool people seem to travel and go out with their laptops always on hand. If you are planning to buy a laptop of your own, then you should know that there are different types of laptops now available in different sizes and weights.

Here is a guide that will help you understand laptop size and weight specifications and help you if ever you plan to buy one.
    Size Basics
When talking about laptop size, it usually refers to the external physical dimensions. This usually refers only to the laptop itself and not the other accessories that come with it but may also be required when being used.

When choosing laptop sizes, the required accessories of the laptop should also be taken into consideration aside from its physical dimensions. Laptops are designed to be portable, added accessories may lessen its portability.
    Weight Basics
When the laptop size may determine its level of portability, it should not be the only thing to be considered. The weight of the laptop should also be made part of the decision making when choosing a ideal laptop. Since laptops were designed to be carried around, weight becomes an important issue especially if the laptop is a requirement for daily travel.
Weight specifications of laptops can be tricky from one manufacturer to another. Some laptops have weight specifications that include only its installed batteries. Many laptop manufacturers fail to mention the weight of the laptop power adapters which can easily add up from one to three pounds to a laptops total weight.

When buying a laptop, try to inquire about the traveling weight of a certain model. This would usually include all the other accessories needed by the laptop for portable use. This would provide you with a more accurate assessment of its actual weight.
    Laptop Types
Most portable laptops today have been categorized according to their weight and size. Since many laptop buyers look into physical specifications first and foremost when buying one, laptop types have been essentially categorized as the following:
Luggable- laptops with sizes that ranges greater than 18 inches in length, 13 inches wide and 1.5 inches thick. Luggable weigh more than 12 lbs on average.
Desktop Replacement Laptops- these are laptops that range in size greater than 15 inches long, 11 inches wide and 1.5 inches thick. These types of laptops also weight greater than 7 lbs.
Thin and Light Laptops- these are laptops that range from 11-14 inches long, less than 11 inches wide and from1-1.6 inches thick. These laptops also average from 5 to 7 lbs in weight.
Ultraportable Laptops- these laptops average 9 to 11 inches long, 8 to 10 inches wide and about 1.3 inches thick. Ultraportable weigh from 2 to 4 lbs on average.
Subnotebooks- the smallest laptop category, subnotebooks average less than 9 inches in length, 7 inches wide and 1.3 inches thick. Subnotebooks also average less than 2.5 lbs in weight.

    Vita Audio R4 Music System

    DPmeWsfRzxjeHvus.jpg

At a glance the R4 appears plain and dated - vintage, or retro. But once you get to know more about it, you'll find that it's a cool and innovative little gadget.
This relatively small, box-shaped gadget is composed of just about everything you need: CD player, iPod dock, USB playback port, DAB/FM tuner and auxiliary inputs. It has powerful speaker system/amplifiers - an 80-watt audiophile-grade amplifier and speaker system - that produce an excellent quality of sound you wouldn't expect from a plain-looking, compact design.
The R4 IMS is designed with ease and comfort in mind. It doesn't need any complicated set-up. Just plug, play and enjoy. It's also very simple to operate. Just select the mode you want from the custom RotoDial Interface (its own version of a remote) and all its functions, including iPod functions can be controlled. Taking things a step further, Vita Audio designed the RotoDial in such as way that it can be used attached (as part of the design) or detached, like a remote.
Unlike other compact designs which use amplifier chipsets for simplicity and cost, Vita Audio developed their own Class A-B amplifiers on the R4, using discreet component technology - a technique usually used only in high-quality audio. Using sound optimization and 3D sound processing, voices and instruments are reproduced clearly and realistically.

    Palm Treo Pro

    tpXAwlntRtF6BYqR.jpg
Appearances aside, what makes the Palm Treo Pro a special gadget is the fact that it was specifically made for a certain type of people like business people. Considered a hi-end gizmo itself, the design of the Palm Treo Pro is not as glitzy as it is. However, it has the makings of a true blue device every business man wants. If doing business presentation is one of the things that you are good at, this device will fit you the most.
Never mistake its design for anything else as it is truly different when it comes to design and style. With memory of about 100 MB and a micro SD slot, it weighs at about 133 grams; it comes in black-iPhone-ish black, that is. Its functionality, just like any similar device fits anyone who would want their own gizmos to have a QWERTY keyboard as well as a touchscreen.

Palm Treo Pro has a voice recorder and the ability to support all audio, video and picture file formats. It also comes with a 2 megapixel camera and a 320 x 320 screen resolution. Palm Treo has a USB connectivity, Bluetooth, HSDPA, Next G, 3G, plus GPS, EDGE and HSDPA network services. Perhaps, what's the best about it; it has Windows Mobile as operating system.

Get a Zune 3G for No Cost

    EsD4dDlTRug3W_2B.jpg

The best thing about Zune 3G is that it is free. Yes, it is absolutely free. Not "Apple free", but "zero-cost", $0. Last year, Microsoft offered free update for all first-gen Zune owners. And now, Microsoft is at it again by offering existing Zune owners a free 3G firmware upgrade. The latest Zune hardware offers 120GB hard drive, 16GB Flash capacities, and a new color option.
Zune has the ability to access password-protected and public Wi-Fi hot spots, and is now able to upgrade itself on the fly and download tracks straight from Zune Marketplace. The 3G firmware firmware also promises to make Zune's RBDS-enhanced FM radio feature even better. With Zune 3G, you can download recently played songs from people you have befriended through Zune Social. It allows you to get automatic and regular updates of latest music from channels based on genres, artists, celebrities, and DJs.
You will also enjoy games such as Texas Hold 'em and Hexic free of charge. More games will be included on the way. But Zune 3G has buggy PC software client. Last year, many users criticized the radical overhaul of Zune's PC software, with many of them lost their album art and playlists, and many had their library's ID3 tags scrambled. This year, many people are positive that Microsoft has a better update and has learned from its user base.

    Wayfinder Navigator 8

    vNaYKaT6j8NvmypB.jpg

The Wayfinder 8 is the latest satellite-navigation software that you can install on your mobile phone that runs under Windows Mobile 6 Professional as well as Blackberry. All the maps are stored on a server and you can download the maps you want when you want them. Subscription to the service costs roughly US$74 for 12 months or roughly US$89 for 3 years.
Since all the data are stored outside of your phone, it does not take too much space and does not sacrifice the performance of your mobile phone once you calculate possible routes.

You can go to Wayfinder's companion website MyWayfinder, and you can add your favorite destinations and then synchronize it on your phone to download the location. Wayfinder Navigator 8 can also let you publish your location through a Facebook application and through Google Earth with its tracking utility.
Maps are downloadable in both 2D and 3D modes. They are clear to the eye even while using the smallest of handset screens. The route layout is clearly indicated with a thick red line, while points-of-interest like gas stations appear as colorful callouts.
However, some essential information you are used to in a mobile navigator are not included in this program such as ETA, distance remaining, or the name of the next street; but you can deal away with those.
Wayfinder also has its share of weaknesses. For one, multi-point routing is not applicable here. Also, the program does not provide you with recommendations in finding the best route around a roadblock or traffic jam ahead, although it can recalculate your new route for you and stray off track.

The cost for added extras is a hassle as well, leaving you to pay a hefty premium price in order to get locations of speed cameras and traffic information, which you can get at other services for a fraction of the price that Wayfinder offers.

The New T-Mobile G1 Google Android Phone

    N9DnMxRH6Wyuaz6n.jpg

Long time referred to Googlephone or HTC Dream, T-Mobile G1 is introduced in New York on September 23. The mobile phone would not be available in stores until late October 2008. The G1 is the first phone that uses Google Android, a software platform for mobile phones that runs on Linux operating system.
The G1 can be described as a combination of the iPhone and the Blackberry. On the exterior, T-Mobile G1 comes with a sliding QWERTY keypad underneath that Blackberry users may find attractive.
Just like the uber-popular iPhone, the T-Mobile G1 comes with a wide touchscreen and can pretty much manage your e-mail and browse the Internet. But what makes the G1 really special is that your one-time phone registration is automatically synchronized with your Google account. This makes adding phone contacts, for instance, easier to manage because these are also saved in your computer and vice versa. So even if you lose or break your phone, you can still retrieve the data on your new phone by simply logging into your Google account.
Another unique feature that G1 has is the "screen lock" function, wherein you unlock your phone by touching the screen and drag your finger to create a pattern, which acts like your password. The phone also features a drag-down status bar that contains all of your notifications from new text messages, e-mail, calendar events, instant messages among others, without getting in the way.
You can also search addresses using Google map search, and if you use the street view you can actually get to have a 180-degree view of the location by simply moving your phone from left to right.
Other cool features included in the T-Mobile G1 are the 3MP camera, customizable home screen, and a music player that can store up to 1GB of music.

EA Launches Online Video Game Spore

    AKuTRM3XW4z8lPWT.jpg

Electronic Arts Inc., the makers behind the popular Spore game is finally coming up with an online version of the game. Designed by Will Wright, the video game is set to engage the online gaming world with overseeing the evolution and growth of their own designed creatures, from the smallest microscopic organisms to even entire planets and galaxies.
The release of the online video game is said to spur the comeback of the popular video game maker as it has recently suffered some setbacks while coming up with sequels for their other popular games such as Madden Football which hasn't gone very well as expected.
The game was initially planned for release over a year ago. But the release date was postponed due to some polishing that needed to be done as well as trying to finalize other features such as its social networking. Spore has become the company's biggest bet and the release comes with high expectations. The company hopes that it will turn around some of the several setbacks the company went through with its other video game titles.

The wildly expected release of the online version of Spore didn't go quite well as Electronic Arts Inc. may have expected. The reason behind the botched event lies with the issue of heavy copyright restrictions. And because of this, there was an unprecedented number of gamers who instead went into torrent sites in order to download the game.
More specifically, the online version of Spore contains DRM content protection features that only allowed users to download and install of the game in a single computer for a maximum of three times. After that, the 4th install would render the video game unplayable. Users would need to purchase another registration code before reinstalling again.
The DRM protection seemed too heavy and too stringent for many avid online gamers. And because of this, online users did not go for downloading the game and installing it for $50. Most instead went through several BitTorrent sites where the game was said to have been downloaded illegally for an estimated 500,000 times across different torrent sites. This would cost the video game company as much as $25 million revenue loss.
Electronic Arts Inc has issued an apology to the public for being misunderstood over their controversial copy controls. It has also issued a statement that it is increasing the installation limit to five times. Aside from that, EA is also planning a system where customers may be allowed to "deauthorize" a certain computer and then move the game installation into new PC's without ever making a call to the company.
But is seems that most users are still not buying into the recent developments made by the company. What bothered most of the users was the use of digital rights management (DRM) software that also comes with the installation of Spore. Many opponents of such measures say that the use of DRM violates private property rights that can restrict some normal and legal user activities.

Some even believe that the use of DRM may be akin to have a spyware installed on their PC's that tries to look into their own activities. Although the company has denied this, still the negative impact of the fiasco may be something quite hard to get over.

    ZAP Alias: Green Electric Car

    zqgBPR7EjKu_5PT4.jpg

If anyone goes crazy over electric cars, surprise may not be the word for it. It has to be ZAP Alias, that's for sure. The company that created the Xebra Electric Sedan is going to release a sports car that has a 320 horsepower. This will allow this environmentally-friendly car to go from zero to sixty mph of 5.7 seconds and give it a top speed of nearly 120 mph at 120 miles per charge.
With two in-wheel motors, it's touted to be even faster than the Porsche Boxster. In addition to this, ZAP is considering to add certain specifications to the car, like a fast-charge capacity and a hybrid range extender. This project was initiated after their electric SUV ZAP-X whose date of release in the markets has already been announced.
Lotus Engineering, a company which aided in developing the Tesla Roadster, lends a hand to ZAP on the drawing board. ZAP further said that it had teamed up with China Youngman Automotive Group-a bus manufacturer- and will be made in the latter company's assembly lines. Because of that, it will have another brand name when it hits the markets.
As gas prices continue to rise, there is reason to go think why anyone should go ga-ga over electronic cars. Zap Alias, is planned to be released in the markets in mid-2009. Definitely, it is not surprising that green cars are what make the world greener than ever.
