One major thing to remember when trying to dual boot with windows :
INSTALL WINDOWS FIRST!!

Installing any non windows os and first and installing windows second will screw up the boot record as windows overwrites it.

You can easily Customize MBR using EasyBCD

Latest Ubuntu Distors (9.10, 10.04) came with Wubi, It helps you to install Ubuntu with few clicks via Windows and gives you ability to uninstall easily.

So, Just run Ubuntu CD from Windows and Install. (No Partition changes)
