i think HT mean 1 processor and shows 2 virtual processors
Dual core means 2 processors no virtual processor
core2Duo means 2 processors and 2 virtual processors
is this right?
and i dont know anything about core2Quad
if i am wrong correct me

most 512 S have DDR2 where most 256 have DDR3,so its up to u
i dont see any reason to go with 512MB on a 8600
