True that Core 2 has a shared unified cache.anurudda said:additionally, I guess Dual core has 2 cache memories and C2D has one cache(normally a big one) memory which is better than hving 2. cuz da processor can directly access cache data(which is fast) than separately looking for 2 caches(which is slow);
hmm... sure naa ithin mama danna taramin ehemai..
is wrong. The only problem with this separate caches for each core approach is low utilization of resources. There is a good chance that both the caches will have the same data/instructions and this is waste.cuz da processor can directly access cache data(which is fast) than separately looking for 2 caches(which is slow)
well if it ran fine for 1 hour, you don't have a overheating issue not a VERY unstable CPU (can't say it is 100% stable unless you run it for 12 hours or so. But for this test, this is good enough.henderson said:OCCT results

going offline for memtest86+
You need to let it run for few rounds. But yes, if errors were not found in the first round, the probability of finding an error in another subsequent round is very low.henderson said:Tested the MEM and it also works fine, and now the potential culprit is HDD
well if it does the job for u then i doesn't matterhenderson said:it's enough for the requirment.

in general up to 2GB means below 2GB,so u will not be able to get full use of your two slots![]()

Hey, maybe you need to check the VGA as well. If you are using XP, which I think you are, you might need to test the VGA card as well. In Vista, if the VGA fails due to a driver issue or an light overclocking issue, it can be corrected without a crash. But in XP you can't (I think). Run Furmark stress test and see if the VGA is stable. If it is not stable, it could be a problem with the hardware, or even a problem with the driver. Install the latest drivers, btw.

I don't think the PSU has a problem. Because when you load the CPU in OCCT, it is supposed to use up more power than your VGA. 7600's use very little power, but P4's use up a shit load of power.henderson said:Thank you very much for your help.
I will check the VGA as well, I also have some concern about VGA bcoz even when machine is running for hours without a glitch, when a game is started system freezes.
But after 2-3 times of crash with the game it comes stable and works for hours. So what I guess is it might be a PSU capacitor failure so that under normal load it works fine and when VGA is on full power it draws bit high amount of power (VGA is ASUS N7600GS). So that causes to drop voltage significantly and screws the system.
Anyway have to test the VGA for sure.
The safe thing to do it always go with two sticks of RAM right from the beginning. Because some motherboards don't like mixing different brands, so what if you can't find the exact same RAM again?henderson said:I have currently connected 1G of RAM for one slot. So I think it will support another 1G of RAM.

Is the issue related to a specific game, or every game? If it is related to a specific game, then it could be a driver issue. Else it could be an issue with the VGA, maybe the clocks are too high.
, for which I have warranty for another 2 years. But how can I show them this VGA is a shit.You can try lowering the clocks by like 50MHz and see if the problem is still there.henderson said:Did not changed any clocks, it's a stock card. This happen for every game yesterday it happened for NFS5, which can be easily runnable with my on board VGA.
so according to these information it points to the VGA as it seems, for which I have warranty for another 2 years. But how can I show them this VGA is a shit.

You can also try the VGA on another PC and see if it gives the same issues. Since this happens randomly, the only thing you can do it show them a video of the error![]()
Where did you buy it from anyway?
