Oh cmon men,Ure in Kandy & Colombo where there r more computer shops & sellers. Here in Galle I buy that conerter kit includes power adapter,USB cable,Connector unit+aluminium casing for HDD with 6 month warranty for 1.8k.Just search in wellawaththa.U'll find it cheap i think..

That's a great price. I couldn't find anything for even Rs.2500 either. But I didn't REALLY look for one. Just asked from here and there, because I'm not in a hurry to buy a converter. If I can sell my IDE hard drive, I wouldn't need one either, because I don't need to move data around. What I need the converter is to relief the IDE port from serving both the hard drive and the DVD burner.

    Wow, less than 50%!!!
But is there a specific shop? Is this in Pettah or Fort?

Yes 50% in some places its 80-100%, No specific shop, an uncle of mine has a shop in Pettah, he referred me for a memory chip. Card reader I searchd around a bit. I think you already know what sort of a value shopper I am ! But if you need phone stuff, PSP, PS2, Xbox, MP4/MP3/DVD portables, console cartridges ...etc. I can recommend (not a referral) a place, which has good prices in Pettah.

Its a special edition ;) Seagate with a rubber cover on, I think its 7200rpm, has 2mb cache. Ultra ATA 133. Does 32mb/sec

    Simply, speed seagate(secure) silent!

The other hd is a Western Digital crap, it gives some shuttering sounds and fails. I transferred data by placing a stainless steel lunch box filled with water and ice cubes, over it. For hours, coz had take it off due to overcooling, still some data left to be moved.
