Perform following steps to solve this ‘Secure Connection Failed’ error in Firefox.
Step 1. Check your Firefox SSL Setting
- In location bar Type About:Config and press Enter.
- You will see a warning on your screen “This Might be your warranty!”, Now press I’ll be careful, I Promise button.
- Here you can see a search box. Here type Security.enable in that search box.
- If security.enable_ssl3 and security.enable_tls both are set as true then move to the next section.
- But if security.enable_ssl3 and security.enable_tls both are set as False then, double click on them one by one and set as True.
- Now try to connect your website again, if you still find ‘Secure Connection Failed’ error then follow Step 2.
Step 2: Check your Firefox proxy Setting
If you Computer is configured via Proxy to access the internet they you might get this error.
- In the Firefox menu bar click on Tools Menu and selection Option tab
- Now go to Advance panel and click on Network tab
- Here, you have to click on Setting button
- You will see a popup on your screen as Connection Setting
- In Connection Setting window, if you find Manual proxy connection is selected, that means your PC is configured using manual proxy server. So here you need to verify all the protocol fields (HTTP Proxy, SSL Proxy, FTP Proxy, SOCKS Host) entered correctly or not, if all the protocol details are entered correctly then click on OK and if the protocol details are not correct then modify is and press on OK. Then exit from option tab and try to connect that website site again.
- If you any problem regarding protocol data then please contact your network administrator.
- In Connection Setting window, if you find Manual proxy connection is not selected, then leave then press cancel and get out of Option tab.
Step 3: Check Website’s SSL Configuration/Installation
Firefox will trigger this ‘Secure Connection Failed’ error if the SSL is not configured/installed properly for a particular website.

Step 4 : Test your browser
Some time ‘Secure Connection Failed’ error may occur on Firefox because of the problematic website.
So it will be better to test your browser. If your browser passes the test then it simply means that the website contains problem in SSL connection.
