Agent: Benzema leaving Madrid out of the question

    275562hp2.jpg

The Frenchman has seemingly caught the attention of Juventus, but his representative has made it clear that a transfer is not an option. Karim Benzema's agent Karim Djaziri has once more stressed the France international will not be leaving Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old has been linked with an exit at the end of the 2012-13 campaign on more than one occasion, with Juventus reportedly closely monitoring his situation at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Nevertheless, Benzema's representative has insisted a summer transfer is not an option.

"I have already said it before and I will happily repeat that Benzema is not leaving Madrid," Djaziri told calciomercato.com. "Mourinho's potential departure does not change anything? A transfer is out of the question."

Benzema, who has netted nine goals in La Liga this term, has a contract with Madrid until June 2015.

Totti rules out future PSG move but is considering MLS

    270621hp2.jpg

The Italian forward has stressed that joining another Serie A team or les Parisiens are not options, but he would be open to a move to the MLS.Francesco Totti has made it clear that he is not interested in a move to Paris Saint-Germain if he were ever to leave Roma.

The veteran forward has played his entire career for the Stadio Olimpico side and has stated more than once that he is keen to stay put until he hangs up his boots.

However, even though he says that he intends to stay at Roma, he has refused to completely rule out moving elsewhere at some point.

"If I do not finish my career here at Roma, I will move abroad. I will definitely not play for another Italian club out of respect for Roma and the fans," Totti told L'Equipe.

"I would be open to an experience somewhere far away like the United States. Qatar is too hot for my liking. Paris Saint-Germain? They already have more than enough talented players...

"I grew up with the Giallorossi, jersey, though, and I think I will grow old with it, too."

Totti, 36, has a contract with Roma until the summer of 2014.

Milan denies Allegri is set to join Roma

    276104hp2.jpg

The Rossoneri have stressed that there is no truth in reports linking their coach with a summer exit, while Inter has made it clear that it did not approach the manager either AC Milan has published an official statement on its website dismissing a report in a prominent Italian newspaper that head coach Massimiliano Allegri will leave the club for Roma at the end of the season.

The publication claimed that the 45-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the Stadio Olimpico side and will say farewell to Milan this summer, but the Rossoneri have stressed there's no truth in the report.

"AC Milan categorically deny the information published by Corriere della Sera regarding its coach Massimiliano Allegri," a club statement reads.

Meanwhile, the newspaper also claimed that Inter has approached Allegri to replace Andrea Stramaccioni as the club's head coach this summer, but the Nerazzurri have issued a denial on their website, too.

"With reference to an article published in today's Corriere della Sera about the future coach of Inter, Inter categorically deny that there has been any contact - actual or requested - with AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri."

Allegri has been in charge of Milan since taking charge in June 2010 and, as of the start of May, his charges sit third in Serie A though Fiorentina is hot on their tails for the final Champions League berth.

Pochettino: Bale is just like Mess

    273976hp2.jpg

The Southampton boss praises the academy graduate, explaining how highly he rates the Tottenham star after a sensational season that has seen him sweep the end-of-term awards Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino feels that Tottenham forward Gareth Bale is "in the top 10 players in the world".

The former Espanyol coach argues that the Spurs star, who graduated from the Saints academy, shares several attributes with Barcelona icon Lionel Messi.

"There are some similarities between Bale and Messi. There are similarities in the way they play and their characteristics," he told reporters. "They are both very quick, both left-footed and they both have a winning mentality."

He continued with the comparison, "It is clear Bale is very decisive in how his team plays, although maybe not as much as Messi. He is a very decisive player - an amazing player because of his speed, his strength and his goalscoring ability. He has showed that throughout this season and I rate him very highly.

"He is in the top 10 players in the world. When we talk about the world's best players they can play in any league of the world. In this context, Bale can succeed in La Liga but it would be a great loss to the Premier League if he goes."

Neuer: Dortmund and Bayern is never a friendly

    277272hp2.jpg

The Germany international was happy to escape with a point after he saved a penalty from Robert Lewandowski and saw Rafinha sent off.Manuel Neuer admitted clashes against Borussia Dortmund are never friendly affairs after Bayern Munich drew 1-1 with its arch-rival in a feisty encounter on Saturday.

Mario Gomez cancelled out Kevin Grosskreutz's opener, while Neuer kept out Robert Lewandowski's penalty and had to be on guard in the latter stages following Rafinha's dismissal for two bookable offenses.

"No matter where the game takes place, it is never a friendly between these two teams," the 27-year-old told Sky after the match. "It is always an eye-to-eye duel. We played the second half with 10 men, which was difficult of course."

Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes was equally impressed with how die Roten shrugged off Champions League exertions against Barcelona to earn a result at Signal Iduna Park.

"It was an intense game," he said. "After the week's events, it was not easy to move on with the agenda. There is high praise for my team, which acted outstandingly aggressive with 10 players. We deserved the point."

The two sides face one another again in the Champions League final at Wembley on May 25.

Klopp: We have to think about Dzeko

    276413hp2.jpg

The coach has responded to rumors linking him with a move for the Manchester City striker Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed he is considering a move for Edin Dzeko - but fears the player's wage demands could scupper a potential move.

With Mario Gotze leaving the club for Bayern Munich in the summer, top goalscorer Robert Lewandowski has been strongly tipped to follow in his footsteps out of Signal Iduna Park.

And with reports linking Dortmund with a move for Manchester City striker Dzeko, Klopp responded to the speculation and admitted the former Wolfsburg man is on his radar.

"I do not know anything of a meeting with Dzeko," he had told Sky. "But if you think about what will happen to us in the next few years, we have to think about him.

"But judging by information we have, the wages he is content with technically do not fit ours, as we will not bend. We do not throw about peanuts.

"Still, we will leave all drawers open."

Dortmund and Bayern Munich played out a dress rehearsal of their Champions League final on Saturday, with the two sides playing out a 1-1 draw.

Mario Gomez leveled for the visitors after Kevin Grosskreutz had put BVB in front and Klopp was happy with the efforts of his side, despite the game effectively being a dead rubber with the Bavarians already crowned champions.

"Nobody wanted to arouse suspicion that it was a friendly match," the 45-year-old acknowledged to reporters. "Had we played a little more, we could have caused more problems to the opponent.

"We had some rotation but started really well [with the opener], and then [Ilkay] Gundogan had to be taken off. We would have liked to win, but I'm happy of course."

Pepe slams Mourinho over Casillas comments

The defender launched a thinly-veiled attack on his compatriot, in another incident that suggests the 50-year-old has lost the support of the dressing room
Real Madrid center back Pepe has slammed Jose Mourinho for making "unsuitable" comments about Iker Casillas.

The Portuguese trainer had claimed on Friday that he regretted not signing custodian Diego Lopez earlier, with the former Sevilla player becoming first choice between the posts since his January arrival.

"We have to have a bit more respect for Iker. The boss's quotes were not the most suitable," the 30-year-old said to Canal Plus after Madrid's 4-3 win over Valladolid on Saturday.

"Iker is an institution - at this club and in Spain. He has to know that we [the players] and the fans are behind him."

Speculation continues to link Mourinho with the Madrid exit door and a return to former club Chelsea in the summer and Pepe added that his coach's problems were strictly between him and the club's hierarchy.

"We're relaxed. The coach needs to sort it out with the club. We are playing for the shirt," he concluded.

Los Blancos lie second in La Liga, eight points behind leader Barcelona.

Wenger wary in Champions League race

    273745hp2.jpg

The Gunners boss highlighted the unpredictability of the top-four battle as Arsenal pushed two points clear of Tottenham and Chelsea with a narrow win over already-relegated QPR Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted his side cannot afford to drop any points if it is to qualify for the Champions League after the Gunners narrowly triumphed over QPR.

The relegated side was unable to find a response after Theo Walcott opened the scoring within 20 seconds as Arsenal secured a win that put it two points ahead of rivals Chelsea and Tottenham, before the latter two meet on Wednesday.

However, Wenger is wary of the unpredictability of the Premier League run-in with qualification to the Champions League - and the subsequent financial rewards - in the balance.

"We're on a very strong run and want that to carry on until the end of the season. You can only win your own games and watch what happens elsewhere," he told ESPN. "Chelsea play Tottenham on Wednesday and they're at Manchester United [on Sunday]. Football is unpredictable but for three months we've been in a position where we cannot drop points."

QPR boss Harry Redknapp, meanwhile, lauded his side's "first-class" efforts, claiming that it was just as good as its opposition in spite of the result.

"We showed fantastic spirit, we were every bit as good as them today. We could have got a result today, the spirit was first class," he told ESPN. "What more could we have done? We conceded a goal and we could easily have dropped our heads, we kept going, we worked their keeper.

"I thought we were excellent. It's easy to jump on the bandwagon to say there was a lack of spirit, [but] there wasn’t today."

Real Madrid 4-3 Vallodolid: Battling Blancos make Barcelona wait for title
    277297hp2.jpg

Real Madrid staved off the title celebrations of Barcelona for another week with an entertaining 4-3 victory over Valladolid at Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday. Cristiano Ronaldo led the way with a double.

Los Blancos knew that only victory would guarantee the defense of their Liga crown for one more matchday, but the visitors had no intention of following the script, taking the lead in the eighth minute through Oscar Gonzalez.

An own goal from Marc Valiente and a Ronaldo header turned the game around just after the half-hour mark, but Javi Guerra restored parity within moments during a chance-laden half for both sides.

Kaka quickly drilled Madrid into the lead after the restart, before Ronaldo nodded in his second in the 70th minute to seemingly seal the points - but a stunner from Sastre with three minutes to go ensured a nervy end to the game for the hosts.

The Brazilian was handed a rare start by Jose Mourinho, but with Sergio Ramos injured and Raul Albiol suspended, Ricardo Carvalho made a rare appearance in the center of defense.

And the Portuguese defender would show his rustiness with eight minutes gone. He failed to read an admittedly poor pass from Sami Khedira, but Oscar did not care who was to blame, running onto the ball and slotting home neatly.

Madrid nearly responded three times in three minutes, as Angel Di Maria, Luka Modric and Kaka flashed openings off target within seconds of each other.

Though Valladolid did not lack confidence, Madrid was the superior side, and when Kaka forced an excellent save from Jaimie from range, it seemed to be only a matter of time before their pressure would tell.

And true to form Madrid equalized on the next play, albeit in fortuitous fashion. Di Maria weaved his way into space and took aim, but it was a wicked deflection off Valiente that would be the undoing of Jamie.

The home side were in no mood to take their foot off the gas. Almost instantly, Ronaldo drilled a free kick narrowly wide, before Pepe forced a reflex save out of Jamie with a bullet header from a corner.

And just before the half-hour mark, Madrid took the lead. Di Maria’s in-swinging cross was guided towards the far corner expertly by the head of Ronaldo, who had stolen into an inch of space.

But just when the floodgates seemed to be opened, Valladolid put another spanner in the works. Oscar broke free and slid an incisive ball across the face of goal where Guerra, falling over, still managed to bundle home.

The action came thick and fast right up until the half-time whistle. Jamie stood tall again to deny Ronaldo and Benzema had a goal disallowed, before the Portuguese crashed a spectacular free-kick off the crossbar with a thud.

Madrid took the lead for the second time four minutes after the restart. Benzema did just enough to pick out Kaka on the left, and the Brazilian did not hesitate to power the ball into the far side of the goal.

Ronaldo planted a header over the bar from close as the hosts began to settle in, with Valladolid’s attacking threat seemingly confined to a relic of the first half.

And Ronaldo would not miss with his head again, rising highest to power Mesut Ozil’s corner into the far side with 20 minutes remaining.

By that point the result seemed in little doubt, but Diego Lopez still had to be alert to tip over an audacious effort from Oscar from near the halfway line.

However, in the 87th minute, substitute Sastre ripped an unstoppable 25-yard volley into the back of the net from a rebound off a corner to throw the cat right back amongst the pigeons.

But the visitors could not go that extra mile, as Madrid managed to see out the remaining minutes to keep a modicum of pride intact.

Can anyone tell me why Kaka is taken off early or put him later in the match :-( Can't unserstand MOU :-(

Manchester United 0-1 Chelsea: Late Mata strike gives Blues top four advantage

    277573hp2.jpg

MANCHESTER -- Juan Mata fired Chelsea to a dramatic late victory against Manchester United as the Blues took another step towards a place in next season’s Champions League.

The Spaniard was Chelsea’s best player throughout a dire game at Old Trafford and finished a sweeping counterattack in the 87th minute as he drilled low into the bottom corner.

United full back Rafael was then sent off one minute from time for kicking out at Chelsea defender David Luiz in an extraordinary end to a game that lacked any spark and looked unlikely to produce a goal.

The result sees the Blues move up to third in the Premier League table ahead of Wednesday’s crunch clash with London rival Tottenham, while they are now one point ahead of fourth-placed Arsenal.

The importance of the victory was evident in the triumphant celebrations in front of the away end at full time and Chelsea is now well placed to secure a top four finish this season.

Sir Alex Ferguson made five changes to the side that drew with Arsenal, with David De Gea, Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney among the players who dropped to the bench. Chelsea made four changes to the side that reached the Europa League final on Thursday as Ashley Cole, Juan Mata, Oscar and Demba Ba returned to the starting lineup.

Ferguson and his Chelsea counterpart Rafa Benitez have never seen eye-to-eye and did little to play down their feud ahead of the fixture with thinly veiled barbs directed at each other in their pre-match press conferences.

But the two men shook hands before kickoff, a gesture that seemed to be interpreted by the players as a signal to drop arms during a lackluster first half that felt more like a testimonial than an end-of-season clash between two of the biggest clubs in the country.

United lacked any vibrancy in its attacking play while Chelsea was happy to keep men behind the ball, sit deep and play on the counterattack.

It was a tactic that nearly paid off in the 14th minute when Oscar broke down the right side, cut in to the United penalty area and toe-poked a right-footed shot that Anders Lindegaard managed to tip on to the near post before gratefully collecting the rebound.

At the other end, Robin van Persie could only head straight at Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech and the Premier League’s top scorer then shot just wide as he latched on to a pass from Ryan Giggs three minutes before the break.

There was no improvement after the re-start as the teams continued to cancel each other out.

Then, out of nowhere, Chelsea found the winner. Ramires broke down the middle and fed Oscar, who played a first-time pass for Mata and the Spaniard fired a sweet low drive across goal into the bottom corner via the post.

The goal completely changed the atmosphere at Old Trafford and moments later Rafael was sent off after hacking down David Luiz by the corner flag.
