Arsenal 5-1 West Ham: Giroud and Podolski blow Hammers away

    249147hp2.jpg

Arsenal stunned West Ham with a second-half blitz as it made up ground on fourth-place rivals Tottenham and Everton with a comprehensive victory at the Emirates Stadium.

An Olivier Giroud brace, accompanied by further strikes from Lukas Podolski, Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott, boosted the Gunners' chances of qualifying for the Champions League for a 16th successive season, as they recovered from Jack Collison's stunning strike to seal an emphatic win.

The Gunners started brightly as they looked to get their slick passing game going from an early stage but had to be wary of the physical threat posed up front by the visitors, who created the first real opening but Ricardo Vaz Te's downward header sailed wide.

Arsene Wenger's men responded as a trademark Jack Wilshere burst from midfield took him past his man before slipping in Walcott with a sumptuous pass, but the winger could not get a shot away as Joey O'Brien tracked back in time.

It all appeared to be going the way of the Gunners in the opening stages before the Hammers landed a sucker blow.

A series of corners eventually led to Giroud's weak header finding the unmarked Collison who rammed home an unstoppable left-footed strike beyond the despairing dive of Wojciech Szczesny.

It appeared to wake Arsenal up again as it started zipping the ball around with more purpose, an equalizer would come quicker than anyone in the Emirates crowd could have anticipated.

Little trouble appeared on for the Hammers' rearguard when Wilshere clipped a delicate chip into the path of Podolski 25 yards from goal, but the German had other ideas as he unleashed a piledriver which flew past a stunned Jussi Jaaskelainen and hauled the North London outfit back on level terms.

They were looking to get the searing pace of Walcott in behind each time but West Ham held out well with a scrambled Podolski effort from Kieran Gibbs' cutback the closest Arsenal came to taking the lead prior to the interval.

West Ham was content to absorb pressure and hit its hosts on the counterattack, and it so nearly worked as Carlton Cole peeled off his marker and attempted a delicate chip over the onrushing Szczesny, but thankfully for Wenger and his side, Aaron Ramsey heroically cleared off the line albeit by also crashing into teammate Thomas Vermaelen.

You sensed it would be the Gunners who would up the ante in the second half but they couldn't have dreamt what would happen so soon into the second period, as four goals in a blistering 11 minute spell saw the home side fly clear of the visitors.

First, Walcott's whipped corner was met by Giroud, who turned home on the volley at the near post before the Frenchman was involved in the move which saw Podolski square for Cazorla to slide home a neat finish despite being under heavy pressure from O'Brien.

If the Gunners faithful thought that was good, they hadn't seen anything yet, as Walcott got in on the act by smashing past Jaaskelainen from Podolski's cross after a lightning counterattack.

Giroud added to his earlier finish with a swept finish from yet another Podolski cross as Arsenal threatened to run riot.

It was damage limitations for Sam Allardyce, who responded by throwing on young Dan Potts to deal with the pace of Walcott and Alou Diarra for some defensive nous.

Potts would only last a few minutes on the pitch as he went down following an aerial duel with Bacary Sagna and was treated on the pitch with various players looking concerned at what had happened.

Wenger had also chosen to make the most of his substitutions as he looked to take the sting out of the game as well as resting some of his first team stars ahead of a testing FA Cup trip to Brighton at the weekend.

The injury to Potts meant that West Ham could only carry on with ten men against the rampant Gunners, having made all of their three substitutions and 12 minutes of stoppage time was subsequently awarded for the time it took to take the defender from the pitch.

Allardyce's side managed to hold out for the remaining minutes with Arsenal strolling through the gears as it secured a valuable three points in the quest for Champions League football next season.

Swansea 0-0 Chelsea (Agg 2-0): Stalemate sends Swans to Wembley as disgraced Hazard sees red

    edenhazardlooksatinjuredballboyvswans20130123_576x324.jpg

Swansea fans can start dreaming of silverware after Michael Laudrup's side drew 0-0 with Chelsea in the Capital One Cup semifinal at Liberty Stadium to win 2-0 on aggregate, and book a final with Bradford at Wembley on Feb. 24.

The night was a huge blow to Rafa Benitez who also saw Eden Hazard sent off for appearing to kick a ball boy, and the result leaves the FA Cup and Europa League as the Stamford Bridge club's only realistic chances of winning a trophy.

The Swans, meanwhile, can look forward to their first ever appearance in a major cup final, and could become the first Welsh winners of the league cup in the process in a terrific first season in charge for Laudrup.

Controversy ensued after just five minutes in a lively opening - Demba Ba (preferred to Fernando Torres) went down in the area as Ben Davies hung out a leg, but the striker's theatrical reaction failed to persuade referee Chris Foy.

Swansea continued the entertaining start with Michu stinging Petr Cech's hands with a fine 16-yard drive after a clever through-ball by Wayne Routledge, with the hosts showing no fear in defending their two-goal cushion.

Gerhard Tremmel scooped up Hazard's low effort on 20 minutes with Ba lurking for the rebound and did well to hold Ramires' strong drive three minutes later as Chelsea began to threaten the hosts.

Juan Mata couldn't quite control a Ba pass well enough to feed Oscar who would've had a simple finish from 12 yards, but the flair of the visitors' forwards began to shine through despite the confident passing of Laudrup's side.

While many would have assumed Chelsea to push on in the second half in search of goals, the visiting fans were left frustrated with the likes of Mata and Ramires seeing shots closed down by a determined display from the hosts.

Chelsea upped the tempo as Mata unleashed a fine 20-yard drive with 18 minutes to go that Tremmel expertly held on to, while Torres was introduced with 13 minutes to try and rescue the game.

However, all hopes of a comeback faded after Hazard received his marching orders with 10 minutes to go after bizarrely kicking a ball from underneath a ball boy, who appeared to be lying on the ball to waste time.

Swansea ended up looking the likelier side to score late on as Ki and Nathan Dyer wasted opportunities, but the Swans will not care about failing to score as they have a dream date at Wembley to look forward to.

Roma 2-1 Inter: Destro the difference despite Nerazzurri landing crucial away goal

Roma holds a slight advantage in its Coppa Italia semifinal with Inter as it emerged a 2-1 winner in the first leg at Stadio Olimpico.

The Giallorossi exploited glaring holes in the visitors' three-man defense to race into a two-goal lead with a pair of headers from Alessandro Florenzi and Mattia Destro, respectively. The Nerazzurri pulled one back through Rodrigo Palacio at the close of the first half and despite an improved display after the break they were unable to find another.

Roma looked keen to make the most of their home advantage as they attacked eagerly during the early exchanges. Destro saw the first effort of the game saved comfortably, but in the 13th minute, Zdenek Zeman's side took the lead.

The adventurous Ivan Piris flighted in a pinpoint delivery from the right and Florenzi made the most of some slack marking to nod the ball past Samir Handanovic and into the top corner.

The Nerazzurri responded well and caught Roma off guard with a counter-attack moments later, but Fredy Guarin's shot crashed off the outside of the post.

Almost instantly the hosts were down the other end and should well have doubled their advantage. After a brilliant dummy from Destro, Totti failed to take the ball round Handanovic and Erik Lamela's follow-up was cleared off the line by Andrea Ranocchia.

But the center back's heroics were soon forgotten as he was largely culpable for Roma's second goal. Ranocchia did not get tight enough to Destro and the striker capitalized, heading in from Piris' cross at the near post after 33 minutes.

Inter was continually being exposed down the left and it nearly proved the source of yet another goal as Handanovic parried a cross onto his own post before Guarin cleared away.

To their credit Andrea Stramaccioni's men kept their heads up and after Guarin had been denied by a brilliant Maarten Stekelenburg save, Palacio poked home following a quality delivery from Esteban Cambiasso to halve the deficit in the 44th minute.

Stramaccioni replaced Joel Obi with Yuta Nagatomo for the second half, switching to a four-man defense, and it gave his team a more solid base from which to attack.

Guarin was still the spearhead of everything positive the visitors created as he supplied numerous piercing passes as well as pulverizing, albeit off-target, shots at goal.

Roma was far from the attacking force it had been in the first half and nearly gifted Inter an equalizer in the 68th minute. Piris failed to deal with a cross into the area and after seeing his initial effort blocked by Leandro Castan, Palacio's second effort was held by Stekelenburg.

Ricardo Alvarez was introduced 15 minutes from time and he nearly had the perfect impact as he seized upon some poor control by Federico Balzaretti, but his curled effort flew agonizingly wide of the goal.

But the Giallorossi managed to hold on until the final whistle, though an away goal for the Milan side means the tie will still be very much in the balance when the pair meet at San Siro for the second leg.

Valencia 1-1 Real Madrid (Agg 1-3): Blancos finish wth nine men but ensure progression to last four

    249157hp2.jpg

Nine-man Real Madrid qualified for the semifinals of the Copa Del Rey after a 1-1 draw with Valencia in the second-leg of their quarterfinal tie at the Mestalla.

Jose Mourinho's men progressed 3-1 on aggregate, and recorded their third undefeated game over Los Che in eight days, adding to their 5-0 Liga triumph over the weekend, and the 2-0 first leg win at the Bernabeu.

A tight first half saw Madrid lose Iker Casillas to a freak injury, but a goal by Karim Benzema moments before the interval put the visitors in sight of the next round, and left Valencia needing four goals to recover.

Fabio Coentrao's 51st minute red card and a free kick from Tino Costa gave the hosts a glimmer of hope, but despite controlling the second half and a late dismissal for Angel Di Maria, they could not muster a response as los Blancos held on to advance to a last four tie against either Malaga or Barcelona.

Benzema was the only change from the side that started the match at the Mestalla on Sunday, the French international replacing Gonaalo Higuain as the visitors’ lone forward.

Though Valencia started brightly, it was Madrid which threatened first, with Ronaldo forcing a save at the near post from Guaita after latching on to Xabi Alonso’s precise through ball. However, the capital outfit was handed a blow with 17 minutes gone, as Casillas was forced off for Antonio Adan after a bizarre incident where he was accidentally kicked on the hand by Alvaro Arbeloa.

And the Madrid reserve keeper was soon called into action to stop a bullet header from Haedo Valdez, who had risen highest to meet Andres Guardado’s free kick.
Adan would thwart the Paraguayan forward once more shortly after the half hour mark, this time blocking him from point blank range after the Valencia man had found space to shoot inside the six yard area.

Madrid found itself on the ropes somewhat, and attempted to wrest control of the game back from the hosts when Di Maria brought an acrobatic save out of Guaita with a testing drive from 25 yards out.

And on the stroke of first-half injury time, los Blancos put the tie virtually out of reach when a quick throw saw Alonso tee up Benzema, who lost Ricardo Costa and slotted home a vital away goal.

But Valencia was given a little reason to hope six minutes into the second half when Coentrao was shown his second yellow card for a handball. The Portuguese’s infraction was doubly damaging, as Costa was able to steer the resulting free kick under Adan to make it 4-1.

The gameplan from both sides was simple after that, as Valencia, still needing three goals, continued to press forward, while Madrid, mindful of its numerical disadvantage, adopted a defensive approach for the remainder of the game. And though los Che managed to force almost every one of the opposition players behind the ball, their monopolization of possession could not break down the visitors, who had abandoned almost all of their interest in attacking.

Di Maria was sent off with minutes to go for a petulant kick-out on Joao Pereira, but it came too late to aid Valencia, as Madrid held on for qualification, and now awaits a potential Clasico semifinal, should Barcelona get past Malaga on Thursday.

Xavi to sign new Barcelona contract on Monday

Barcelona has announced that Xavi will sign a new contract on Monday.

The Liga leader revealed in December that the 32-year-old had agreed to extend his current deal at the club, which is due to expire in June 2014.

Tito Vilanova's side has now confirmed that the midfield star will put pen to paper at the beginning of next week, with the new deal set to keep him at the club until June 2016.

The news follows Carles Puyol's decision to pen fresh terms at Camp Nou earlier this week, with the captain also signing an extension until 2016.

Lionel Messi is also expected to sign a new deal in the coming weeks, with the Argentina attacker set to commit his future to the club until 2018.

Mourinho relishing clash with 'fantastic' Sir Alex Ferguson in Champions League

    95203hp2.jpg

Jose Mourinho is relishing the chance to lock horns with the "fantastic" Sir Alex Ferguson when Real Madrid faces Manchester United in the Champions League.

The Red Devils travel to Santiago Bernabeu on Feb. 13 for the first leg of the two sides’ last-16 clash as the veteran managers meet for the 15th time.

Mourinho has bettered Sir Alex on seven occasions, losing just twice, but he has never won a Champions League tie at Old Trafford - and the Los Blancos boss is targeting a record 10th triumph in the tournament for his club after admitting retaining their La Liga crown is "impossible".

"The 10th Champions League is a target. But be aware that other teams may well win. We should work a lot for this, and especially this season because we are distanced in the league," Mourinho told RMC. "Manchester United's clash is fantastic. I prefer that. Ferguson is a fantastic example. He comes to see my team and I do the same."

Mourinho has often spoken of his wanting to return to the Premier League following his sacking as Chelsea boss in 2007, and has again reiterated this desire. The 49-year-old did admit that he was close to taking charge of England in 2008, but his commitment to Portugal saw him back away from the opportunity.

"One day, I want to return to England, he said. "I spent only three and a half years and I want to go back. But this is not a priority. Today, I just think about tomorrow's game and that's life for all coaches.

"I would like to coach the national team of Portugal and many people expect it there. I hope to know this experience and play a World Cup or Euro. In 2008, I was ready to take the English team. But for me, it was Portugal that I want, even if you never say never. But England is my first love and it will remain so."

    Roma confirms Torosidis signing

Roma has confirmed the signing of Vasilis Torosidis from Olympiakos.

The Giallorossi confirmed on their website on Wednesday that they had agreed a 400,000 euro deal for the 27-year-old, who has signed a contract until 2015, with the option to extend his stay by a further year.

Olympiakos had been keen to sell the versatile defender this month in order to risk losing him for nothing at the end of the season, and allowed him to fly to Italy to complete a medical on Tuesday.

Torosidis is likely to watch his new side from the stands when it takes on Inter in the Coppa Italia semifinal on Wednesday, but he could be available for selection for the Serie A clash with Bologna on Sunday.

Howard: Everton must improve to qualify for Europe

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard says his side needs to maintain its early-season form to challenge for European places in the Premier League.

After starting the campaign brightly the Toffees sit fifth in the league but, following a 0-0 draw away to Southampton, manager David Moyes was disappointed that his side did not keep up momentum on its rivals for the fourth spot.

Howard says it is important to keep the team's performance levels high and keep picking up points wherever it can.

"It is going to be a matter of whether we can put two halves together," Howard told reporters. "That is what is everyone is wondering and it is our job to keep it up and keep our levels high. When we don't perform well we need to get something out of it and so at the moment that is working.

"It is easy to say 'what if?' but I always think if we can keep picking up points here and there it is better than a loss. It just depends how you look at it. We are right there in the mix and it is going to go week-to-week now. We are three points off Spurs, Liverpool are four points behind us and Arsenal are four [points behind] with a game in hand, so if everyone does their job, it is going to be basically who wins the head-to-head battles."

    Buffon signs new Juventus deal

Juventus captain Gianluigi Buffon has put pen to paper on a contract extension at Juventus Stadium.

The 34-year-old has added a further two years to his current deal, meaning he will remain a Bianconeri player until 2015, with Buffon hoping to maintain his current level of performance over that period of time.

“I hope to play for as long as I'm able to do so and I'm ready to give my all,” he said.

“We had originally talked about a one-year renewal but Juve made the counter-offer of a two-year deal. When I arrived at Juve my only concern was whether or not I could cut it at this level.”

Juve president Andrea Agnelli added his belief that Buffon has now become one of the best players to have ever represented the club.“He's already among the best and greatest names in the history of Juventus,” Agnelli praised.

“I like remembering the five titles he won on the pitch, and the World Cup, but what sets him apart is his honesty and his leadership.”Agnelli also claimed it is possible the former Parma goalkeeper could win the Ballon d’Or before the end of his new contract, while stressing he never feared he would leave the club.

“He hasn't won a Ballon d'Or yet, only [Russia goalkeeper Lev Yashin] has done that, but I hope he will do so in the next two years. And no, I never worried about losing Gigi.”

Buffon has made over 500 appearances for the Bianconeri since joining from Parma for a world-record breaking fee for a goalkeeper of 39 million euros in 2001.

Malaga acquires Lugano on loan from Paris Saint-Germain

Malaga has taken Paris Saint-Germain defender Diego Lugano on loan until the end of the season.

The Andalusian side has an option to make the deal permanent if he impresses at La Rosaleda, with the Uruguay international well down the pecking order at Parc des Princes.

PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti has praised the “great professionalism” of the 32-year-old ahead of his switch to La Liga, with the player failing to make a first team appearance for the club this season.

“Diego has set an example,” Ancelotti told PSG’s official website.“I want to emphasize that he was very professional. This is a good lesson for the whole group because he worked every day with great professionalism.”

Manuel Pellegrini’s side is currently fifth in the Primera Division after taking 32 points from 20 games, with Lugano's arrival set to boost its strength in depth with the player available for both domestic and European competition.

The move could also be bad news for U.S. international Oguchi Onyewu, who could see his already-limited playing time reduced with Lugano's arrival.

Atletico forward Adrian ignoring Arsenal speculation

Atletico Madrid forward Adrian has downplayed speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal and insisted he is happy at the Vicente Calderon.

Goal.com revealed that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was hoping to bring the Spain international to the Premier League after cooling his interest in Barcelona’s David Villa.

However, despite talk intensifying of an imminent move to the Emirates Stadium, Adrian has revealed he tries to ignore the rumors.

"I try to isolate myself from the rumors," he told Marca. "We are used to them and do not take them seriously. I am very happy at Atletico.

He added, "I am happy here and it is my intention to continue here. The good thing at the moment is that the team is doing very well. I would like to stay for a while yet."

The 25-year-old netted in the 2-0 win over Levante on Sunday to take his tally to three in 17 La Liga appearances so far this season.

Atletico sits in second spot in the table behind Barcelona and will be hoping to keep hold of the forward who currently has an 18 million buyout clause in his contract.

I can still get better, says Bayern Munich's Kroos

    232503hp2.jpg

Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos has insisted that he has not reached the end of his development just yet and feels he can still get better.

The Germany international has been in fine form so far this season, but is adamant that he still has room for improvement.

"I can't deny that I'm playing some of the best football of my career. I have really made a step forward and a lot of things are going well at the moment," the 23-year-old told Bild.

"However, I have not reached the end of my development yet. I cannot afford to sit back and rest on my laurels now."

Kroos then went on to stress that Bayern is determined to win silverware this season to give head coach Jupp Heynckes a worthy farewell.

"He deserves a great farewell. We should win at least one trophy for him. We are all desperate to win a major title again. We have not experienced the feeling of winning something for two years now.

"We all want to end this season on a high. Not just for the team, but also for Jupp."

Heynckes will make way for Pep Guardiola at the of the season, and is expected to retire once he leaves Bayern.

Inter agrees 14 million euro Belhanda deal with Montpellier

Montpellier president Louis Nicollin has revealed that the Ligue 1 side has accepted a 14 million euro offer from Inter for Morocco international Younes Belhanda.

The attacking midfielder, 22, previously appeared to be on his way to Fenerbahce after agreeing personal terms with the Istanbul giant.

But Nicollin stated earlier this week that Fener could not give him the financial guarantees he wanted, and Belhanda now seems destined to continue his career in Serie A instead.

"We have reached an agreement with Inter over a transfer fee of 14 million euro," Nicollin was quoted as saying by AMKSpor.

"Fenerbahce did not want to pay more than 8 million euros. That's why I have opted to accept Inter's bid instead. Every player has his price, and 8 million euros is not enough for Belhanda."

Belhanda was one of MHSC's key players last season as the club won the Ligue 1 title.

Inter is in the market for a new midfielder following the departure of Wesley Sneijder to Galatasaray earlier this week.

Michu signs new deal with Swansea until 2016

Michu has signed a new deal with Swansea which keeps him at the Liberty Stadium until 2016, the club has confirmed.

The 26-year-old has been a revelation in English football since arriving from Rayo Vallecano for 2.2 million pounds in the summer, scoring 16 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions for the Swans.

Such form had led to speculation of a big money move elsewhere in the summer, but on signing his new deal, Michu has revealed he has no thoughts of leaving the club.

“It was an easy decision for me,’’ he told the club's official website. “I am living a dream here at Swansea. I’m probably enjoying my football more than ever. It’s easy to play with this team and tonight I have the chance to reach the first final of my career.

“I’m really happy here in the city with the people, the club and the fans. Everyone has been so nice to me since I arrived. I think the club are happy with me because they have given me a new contract. I am certainly happy with the club. I’ve read and listened to all the speculation, but it doesn’t interest me, and that's why I've signed a new contract. I’m enjoying myself too much because the team always tries to play football. All I think about is the next game and helping Swansea be successful. This is my life.’’

Britton: Swansea made history by making Capital One Cup final

Leon Britton was elated with Swansea's progression from its Capital One Cup semi-final after a 0-0 draw with Chelsea.

The Blues dominated possession but failed to breakthrough the hosts' solid defense, with Michael Laudrup's men also proving a danger on the counterattack.

The stalemate at the Liberty Stadium sees the Welsh outfit win the tie 2-0 on aggregate, after an impressive victory in west London, and sets up a final at Wembley against League Two's Bradford.

The midfielder insisted that the Swans had to be at their best in both games, but was delighted to see their hard work pay dividends as they set up a trophy chance.

"It's unbelievable tonight," he told Sky Sports. "To do it over two legs against a team like Chelsea, the team have been brilliant in both games. Tonight we made history, which it great for Swansea. You wouldn't dream it.

"Reaching the cup final beating Chelsea over two legs but the club has come on leaps and bounds in the last 10 years. It's great for the club, even in a sense of just reaching the final.

"I think we've been a bit more attacking this year. [Laudrup's] brought in some obviously brilliant players along the way. He's just took us on another level again and we keep on improving."

Though many will fancy the Premier League side to walkover its fourth-tier opponent in the final, Phil Parkinson's men have already knocked out Arsenal and Aston Villa and the Team GB star suggested it will not be straight forward.

"I think they've done brilliant," he continued. "In the lead up to the final they beat a few Premier League teams on the way and Villa over two legs. It's going to be a great day but a really tough one."

Ashley Williams, who was a rock at the heart of the Swans' defense on Wednesday night, agreed that the team got its tactics spot on, frustrating the likes of Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Demba Ba, and praised the collective defensive effort.

He added: "At times I think it was like a bar fight when they were pushing on, but I think the team defended brilliantly.

"That's what we worked on. Obviously bringing them back here we wanted to score a goal and keep a clean sheet. We didn't score but we've kept a clean sheet and the job got done in the end."

Cavani: I want to make history

    248078hp2.jpg

Edinson Cavani is determined to make history by guiding Napoli to Serie A glory in order to leave his mark on the game.

The Uruguay international, who recently netted his 100th goal in the Italian top flight, has been in fine form this season, and is eager to give the Partenopei faithful a reason to cheer.

"Having scored 100 goals is something that excites me and is a boost. I want to leave my mark on the game and make history," Cavani was quoted as saying by Corriere dello Sport.

He added, "I have to thank my team-mates and the club, though, as I owe a lot to them.

"We wouldn't be where we are now without their support and faith. I think we can beat anyone and I will continue to fight for something important right until the end.

"Juventus' five-point lead is not insurmountable. No team can always keep dominating. I want to bring joy to the fans and there's only one thing to do just that..."

Napoli currently sits joint-second in Serie A, with 43 points from 21 games.

Mourinho: La Liga out of Real Madrid's reach

    235808hp2.jpg

Jose Mourinho has reiterated that Real Madrid has very little chance of successfully defending the La Liga title as he feels Barcelona is out of the Blancos' reach.

The Catalans spilled three points at the weekend as Real Sociedad proved to be too strong, but Madrid is still trailing by 15 points, and Mourinho has turned his attention to other targets.

"Winning the league is impossible. The gap [with Barcelona] is too big and we should focus on other objectives," Mourinho told RMC.

"We should not get obsessed about our goals, though, because that will only further complicate matters."

The former Inter boss then went on to rule out a move to Paris Saint-Germain, and added that he feels the media is trying to create controversy around him.

"PSG already have a great coach and a sporting director who will lead them to success. They do not need a new coach," he said.

"Everybody is looking to create controversy around me, even when there's nothing to it. I am doing my work, though, and hope to reach the end of the season quietly."

Madrid is currently preparing for Wednesday's Copa del Rey match against Valencia. The club won the first leg of the quarterfinal tie 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu last week.
