Brazilian striker Neymar has finally secured the contract that takes him from Santos to Spanish giants Barcelona. The 21-year-old signed a five-year contract with the Primera Liga winners on Monday, two days after announcing that he had decided to choose the Catalan club over fierce rivals Real Madrid.

Neither Neymar nor Barcelona have released the financial details of the transfer but Brazilian media are reporting that Barca will pay about €30million.Neymar, who thrived with Brazilian club Santos, posted a message on Monday on Twitter and Instagram saying that "here it ends this wonderful passage with a special club".

He waved goodbye to the Santos fans at Sunday's season-opening game against Flamengo and will head to the Nou Camp after the Confederations Cup, which starts in Brazil on June 15 and finishes on June 30.Neymar guided Santos on their greatest run since Pele stopped playing for the club in the 1970s, helping the team win the 2010 Brazilian Cup, the 2011 Copa Libertadores and three successive Sao Paulo state championships.

He is the club's leading scorer in the post-Pele era with 138 goals in 229 games.

Higuain getting closer to Juventus transfer, says agent Bronzetti

    280067_heroa.jpg

The agent believes the Real Madrid and Argentine attacker is not far away from completing a move to the two-time reigning Serie A champion.Juventus is close to completing the signing of Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to agent Ernesto Bronzetti, who believes there is a "70 percent" chance the move will materialize as of now.

Earlier this month Goal reported the Italian giant had taken a significant step in its pursuit of Higuain by agreeing to terms in principle with the 25-year-old. Bronzetti says both clubs have now reached advanced stages of the negotiation process, and he expects a deal to be struck in the coming weeks.

"Percentages for Higuain to Juventus? Let's say 50-60, maybe even 70 percent. He has expressed a desire to leave so we will see what happens," Bronzetti told Sky Sport Italia. "We spoke with [Juventus' CEO Guiseppe] Marotta and [coach Antonio] Conte when they came to Madrid so now we wait and see.

"In early June we will see if the situation has been resolved."

Monaco interested in Hulk, claims agent

    230969_heroa.jpg

The newly-promoted Ligue 1 side has turned its attention toward luring the Brazil international away from Russia, claims the player's representative.Big spending Monaco has shown "real interest" in signing Zenit St Petersburg forward Hulk, according to the player's agent.

The 26-year-old has endured a turbulent first spell in Russian football following his move from Porto in September.

And Hulk, who had a transfer request rejected in January because of UEFA regulations forbidding a player appearing for three different clubs in the same season, is said to be attracted to the project currently being developed at the Principality this summer.

According to the player's agent, Teodora Fonseca, the interest is mutual. "I know people at Monaco. They have not contacted me, but there has been speculation and the interest is real," he told Le 10 Sport.

Should a move materialize, Hulk would be reunited with former Porto team-mate Radamel Falcao who is expected to complete his big money move to Claudio Ranieri's men in the coming days.

Earlier in the week, Monaco wrapped up the signings of Porto duo James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho for a combined fee of 70 million euros.

    160057_heroa.jpg

The 35-year-old former Real Madrid defender has agreed on a 12-month deal with the bold, promoted Ligue 1 side.Ricardo Carvalho is the latest player to sign for Monaco after agreeing on a one-year deal with the promoted Ligue 1 club.

The 35-year-old defender, who spent three seasons at Real Madrid before his switch to Claudio Ranieri's side, completed his move on Tuesday. He will join Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez, who recently completed a combined 70 million euro switch from Porto.

"I'm very happy to join Monaco and to be part of the new adventure. This is a new challenge for me," Carvalho told Monaco's official website.

Monaco, backed by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, is also reportedly close to finalizing a deal for Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, who passed a medical on Tuesday. Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is reportedly close to sealing a move as well.

Carvalho was in Jose Mourinho's Champions League-winning Porto side that beat Monaco 3-0 in the 2004 final.

Liverpool agrees to deal for Manchester City defender Kolo Toure

The Reds have revealed they have agreed a deal "in principle" to sign the Ivorian, who struggled for regular first-team opportunities at the Etihad Stadium this past season Liverpool has announced that it has agreed to a deal in principle to sign defender Kolo Toure on a free transfer from Manchester City.

The Ivorian will move to Anfield when his current deal with City expires on July 1 after finding first-team minutes hard to come by at the Etihad Stadium.

The 32-year-old featured just 17 times for City this season following the emergence of young Serbian Matija Nastasic alongside Vincent Kompany in the heart of the defense. Toure’s arrival will help fill the void left by Jamie Carragher, who retired earlier this month after spending his entire career at Anfield.

Toure, who will be separated from brother Yaya with the transfer, brings a wealth of Premier League experience, including winners’ medals with both Arsenal and City, and he formed as part of the Gunners’ legendary ‘Invincibles’ side.

On the international stage, Toure has represented the Ivory Coast more than 100 times and played at two Word Cups, as well as captaining his country

Neymar: I have butterflies in my stomach over playing with Messi

The Brazil sensation admits he is realizing a dream by linking up with the Argentina great at Camp Nou, but insists his primary focus for now is the Confederations Cup.RIO DE JANEIRO -- Barcelona-bound Brazil superstar Neymar says he has "butterflies in his stomach" over the prospect of playing alongside Lionel Messi.

The 21-year-old forward, who revealed this weekend that he was joining the Liga champion on a five-year deal for a 28 million euro transfer fee, said the time had come to "seize the moment" and become a star of European football.

Speaking at the launch of the Nike Hypervenom boot, Neymar admitted: "I have butterflies in my stomach. This is a dream come true. To play with Messi and other amazing footballers at Barcelona has made me very eager to arrive there."

The poster boy of Brazilian football had offers from clubs including Real Madrid and Chelsea but opted to link up with Argentine maestro Messi at Camp Nou after talking through the decision with his family.

"It was a tough decision but I decided together with my family,” he revealed. “They helped me amazingly. I'm very happy but at the same time I am sad for leaving a team [Santos] I have been with for years. I have to seize the moment."

Neymar added that before his move he will focus on his duties for the Brazil national team, with the Confederations Cup starting on June 15.

"Wearing the yellow shirt does have a responsibility but you have to wear it as if you are playing in your own yard,” he said. “Just be happy.

“I have always wanted to play for Brazil and be like players like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and also Robinho and Kaka - there are many footballers I admire."

Del Bosque: La Liga needs players like Neymar

The World Cup-winning coach has applauded Barcelona's capture of the young attacker and is pleased to see another star move to Spain.Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has taken the time to praise Barcelona signing Neymar, saying his presence will enrich La Liga.

The Blaugrana confirmed on Sunday that the club has agreed terms with Santos over the transfer of the Brazil star, who will ink a five-year deal with the club, and the 62-year-old is pleased that Neymar will ply his trade in Spain from next season.

"I really like Neymar. He is an artist and Spanish football needs players like him," Del Bosque told Radio Marca.

"We should not be closing our borders for the very best. We already have players such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo here, who are the best in the world."

Real Madrid had also made an offer for Neymar, but the tricky attacker eventually opted to join Barcelona instead.

The forward will take part in the Confederations Cup with Brazil this summer before joining his new teammates in Catalunya.

Suarez named Liverpool Fans' Player of the Year

    265340_heroa.jpg

The striker collected 64 percent of the overall vote, beating club captain Steven Gerrard and recently retired Jamie Carragher into second and third spot respectively.Liverpool supporters have voted Luis Suarez as their Player of the Year for 2012-13.

The 26-year-old, who was included in the PFA Team of the Year and finished second behind Gareth Bale in the PFA Player of the Year award, scored 30 goals in all competitions for the Reds this season.

The latter part of his season has been marred by his 10-game ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic, which will stretch into next term, and Suarez wanted to thank the fans for their support throughout the campaign.

"It's incredible for me," Suarez told LFC TV. "This is very important for my life and I know I have the supporters helping me - it's so important for me. My work is helping the team and I try my best on the pitch. I hoped the team would be in a better position but we tried our best. We are all ready for next season.

"When the manager arrived here it was a little difficult because maybe he didn't know the players or the club. The first season for the manager was good for the confidence of the players. Next season we can be better. Of course there's more to come from not only me but all of the players in the dressing room. That's important."

Suarez joined Liverpool from Ajax in January 2011 and has since scored 51 goals in 96 appearances.

However, the striker's future at Anfield is still uncertain after Brendan Rodgers admitted Liverpool faces a battle to hang on to him this summer despite insisting the club is under no pressure to sell its star man.

Lewandowski's future will soon be decided, says Klopp

    283335_heroa.jpg

The coach insisted that Bayern has yet to table a bid for the striker and added that there will soon be clarity over the Pole's future Jurgen Klopp has stressed that Borussia Dortmund has not yet received an official offer from Bayern Munich for Robert Lewandowski, but expects the Poland international's future to be resolved shortly.

One of the 24-year-old's agents, Cezary Kucharski, claimed that Lewandowski will leave BVB for Bayern in the summer transfer window after his other representative, Maik Barthel, previously stated that the striker has already agreed terms with another side.

Nevertheless, Klopp has stressed that a transfer to Bayern is by no means a done deal yet.

"We have not received an official offer from Bayern Munich as of yet, so I still expect Robert to play for Dortmund next season," Klopp was quoted as saying by Bild.

"We will make sure that all the speculation about his future ends in the next few days.

"I will not be angry with him regardless of what happens. I am looking at this professionally. We will see what happens. Everything's possible.

"The funny thing is that everybody acts as if it is already a done deal. Jupp Heynckes said so, his agents say so, yet we have not received an offer... What is that all about really? Regardless of the outcome, this is not exactly a nice thing."

Lewandowski's contract with Dortmund runs until June 2014, but the prolific attacker is desperate to leave the club this summer.

Aside form Bayern, he has also been linked with clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, but the Bundesliga champions are in pole position to sign the attacker.

Hodgson urges England fans to respect Ireland

The Three Lions coach, on behalf of the Football Association and at the request of FIFA, has issued an email to ticket holders asking them to refrain from offensive chanting England boss Roy Hodgson has pleaded with fans to respect Republic of Ireland when the two sides meet at Wembley on Wednesday.

The teams have not played each other since 1995, when rioting England fans forced the fixture at Lansdowne Road to be abandoned after just 27 minutes.

And now Hodgson has urged Three Lions supporters to refrain from deliberately provocative "religious or political" chants aimed at the travelling team.

"England fans are rightly renowned for their passionate backing of the Three Lions wherever and whenever the team plays, at home or abroad," Hodgson writes in an email which fans and ticket holders will receive on Tuesday.

"With this next match coming in the middle of half-term week, it promises to be a great family occasion and everyone in the stadium should be able to enjoy it.

"Ahead of the Ireland fixture, on behalf of the FA, I would like to ask our supporters to please respect our opponents and welcome them in the right way.

"Wembley is considered the world over as the home of football and we ask those attending to not take part in any chanting - particularly of a religious or political perspective - which could cause offence to our visitors or fellow fans."

Sergio Aguero insists he was never interested in Real Madrid

Manchester City's Argentine striker spoke to Goal about his future at City, Neymar pairing with Lionel Messi at Barcelona and his interest in playing for New York City FC NEW YORK -- Manchester City star forward Sergio Aguero insists that he is happy with life in Manchester and expects the Citizens to rebound from a disappointing season.

A year after beating out Manchester United for the top spot in the Premier League, City finished second behind its rival and failed to pick up a single trophy in 2012-13. However, Aguero believes the club is headed in the right direction.

"I'm happy to be part of a club that is growing so fast," Aguero told Goal. "I'm very happy to be at Manchester, it's been two years now but hopefully we are going to do bigger things in the next few years."

Rumored to be upset at how City's season finished, Aguero was linked to Real Madrid during this summer transfer window before putting that speculation to rest by signing a one-year extension with the Blues. A former player for Aletico Madrid, Real's biggest rival, Aguero was adamant that he never had interest in joining Los Blancos.

"No, those were just rumors," Aguero said. "I'm committed to Manchester City, it's a great club."

After setting the Premier League on fire with 23 league goals and leading City to its first title in 44 years in his debut season, Aguero was one of the many players who saw their performances dip last season. City also had a disappointing run in the Champions League, finishing fourth in its group, and lost in the FA Cup to Wigan - a team that was relegated shortly after. It was speculated that head coach Roberto Mancini had lost his team and as a result he was fired after the FA Cup upset.

Aguero explained that there wasn't one particular reason why City disappointed last year and he believes that it was always going to be difficult to live up to the previous season.

"You can't win the title every year but we finished second, made the FA Cup final," Aguero said. "Hopefully next year we can titles again."

Manuel Pellegrini is expected to take over the helm at the Etihad Stadium but at this stage of the year, Aguero only wants to focus on the team's end-of-the season break.

"There's various rumors about it [Pellegrini] but we are going on holiday now," Aguero stated. "When we get back, whoever is the manager, we will be behind him and the club."

After Manchester City revealed its intention to launch Major League Soccer's 20th club, New York City FC, with the New York Yankees, City's players - including Aguero - attended various promotional events throughout New York's five boroughs. Aguero played basketball at the world famous Rucker Park on Wednesday and on Saturday morning, surprised a few children at a pickup soccer game.

Aguero is impressed by soccer's growth in the United States and admits that he would like to play for NYC FC at some point.

"Ah, you never know. At the moment, I'm at City but hopefully one day I would be able to [play for NYCFC]," Aguero revealed. "For now, I'm at Manchester City and that's all I can think of.

"Soccer is slowly growing in the USA, you are seeing it [MLS] more in South America and in Europe. As it continues to slowly improve, it will grow and become an exciting sport for Americans to follow."

    :cool:Manchester United keen on Fabregas

    barcelona%27salexsongandcescfabregas_576x324.jpg

Manchester United have made initial contact with Barcelona over a potential purchase of Cesc Fabregas, ESPN understands, as David Moyes has finally set out his main plans for a first transfer window as manager at Old Trafford.

Moyes has resolved to greatly reinforce the midfield, and United will look to make at the very least two signings in the area - possibly more.At the top of the list of targets at present are Marouane Fellaini, Thiago Alcantara and, above all, Fabregas. Moyes also feels the need to make at least one "statement" signing, especially with the expected departure of Wayne Rooney.

United sources have confirmed to ESPN that there have already been discussions between the club and Barcelona over both Fabregas and Thiago. While the Catalans are willing to sanction the sale of Thiago to Old Trafford for around £18m, leaving the final decision over a move to the player, there is more uncertainty over Fabregas.Barca are still deciding what to do next with a signing that has been a relative failure given the former Arsenal midfielder’s undeniable quality.

Fabregas is understood to be wavering over whether he wants a move. Although there is a willingness on both parts to eventually make his stay at Camp Nou work as a consequence of the obvious emotional connection between the 26-year-old and the Catalans, United are hoping to act on that doubt. It is felt at Old Trafford that a figure of over £25m may tempt Barcelona.

Moyes would also be able to offer Fabregas the influential midfield role that he has failed to earn at Camp Nou, as Xavi continues to have such a strong impact.
Any deal may be complicated by Arsenal's reported first refusal on Fabregas, although United sources are confident that will not be an issue.

At this juncture, Thiago is seen as a much more likely signing for United, although he is said to still be unsure over both wages and whether a move to the Premier League is currently the best decision for his career.Moyes’ hand has been further forced by the close-season's exits, as well as the existing gaps in the United midfield from the 2012-13 season. Not only has Paul Scholes retired, it is anticipated that Anderson will leave, most likely to a Portuguese club.

United are also open to selling Nani, with Arsenal understood to be contemplating a £15m bid.Moyes as yet has no firm plans over what to do up front, or whether to reinforce at all. Although United were encouraged as recently as last week that a move for long-term target Robert Lewandowski may be possible, the events of the last few days have left them feeling much less confident.

Part of the problem has been that the Polish forward’s representatives have been looking to keep their options open, particularly with Borussia Dortmund so unwilling to sell to Lewandowski’s first choice of Bayern Munich.
