Tottenham 1-1 Espanyol: Soldado opens account as Bale is absent again

    304289hp2.jpg

Tottenham finished their preparations for the new season with a 1-1 draw with Espanyol as Roberto Soldado scored his first goal for the club - but there was again no sign of Gareth Bale at White Hart Lane.

Soldado, the club’s record signing after his £26 million transfer from Valencia, marked a bright 60-minute performance as he converted a first-half penalty.

Espanyol then equalised just before the break through a powerful header from David Lopez as Spurs failed to get to grips with their zonal marking defensive system at corners.

The major talking point surrounding Tottenham this summer has been over the future of Real Madrid target Gareth Bale, and the £100 million-rated Welshman once again missed out as, at least officially, he recovers from a foot injury.

Bale has been named in the Wales squad to face the Republic of Ireland next week but the 24-year-old has not featured for Spurs since their pre-season friendly against Swindon on July 16, having told the club he wants to move to the Spanish capital.

The sell-out crowd in north London had plenty to be optimistic about, however, with summer signings Soldado, Nacer Chadli and Paulinho all named in the starting line-up and introduced to the crowd before kick-off.

Paulinho nearly made the perfect start to his Spurs career in the sixth minute but the Brazilian’s glancing header into the corner from Gylfi Sigurdsson’s free kick was ruled out for a marginal offside.

But the hosts did not have to wait much longer for a goal from a debutant as Soldado opened his account from the penalty spot in the 29th minute.

It was an easy decision for referee Andre Marriner to point to the spot after David Lopez brought down Spurs left-back Danny Rose, and Soldado as he buried the ball into the corner from 12 yards.

Spurs, though, lost impetus after taking the lead and were pegged back by Espanyol a minute before the break when David Lopez made a near post run and headed powerfully into the net from a corner.

Both sides struggled to find rhythm after the break amid a raft of substitutions which included returns for Younes Kaboul and Sandro following long-term injuries.

Fellow substitute Andros Townsend came closest to finding a winner for Spurs 11 minutes from time, but the winger fired just wide with his left foot after cutting in from the right.

    Inter sign Rolando on loan

    250916_heroa.jpg

Inter have completed the loan signing of Porto defender Rolando after he passed a medical on Saturday.

Rolando will team-up with former coach Walter Mazzarri, whom he played under at Napoli last season. Inter have the option to make the move pernament at the end of the deal, according to reports.

The 27-year-old made only seven Serie A appearances during that spell with the Partenopei since joining them in the January transfer window.

Inter's club website said: "[Rolando] is ready to join the squad after their American tour. Inter and the fans give him a warm welcome."

The Nerazzurri are also hoping to secure the services of Chelsea's Wallace next week. The wing-back, 19, spent last season on loan to Brazilian side Fluminense.

I won't cause Rooney rift with Moyes, says Hodgson

    193987_heroa.jpg

Roy Hodgson is prepared to select Wayne Rooney for England, but only if he is fit enough to play to avoid a bust-up with Manchester United manager David Moyes.

The 27-year-old forward thanked the Three Lions coach on Facebook for "showing faith" in picking him despite a disjointed pre-season, with Goal exclusively revealing he has been banished to train with the reserves with Chelsea seeing two bid rejected for the striker.

And while Hodgson is keen to use Rooney against Scotland ahead of crucial World Cup qualifiers in September and October, the 66-year-old is wary of potentially aggravating the forward's current injuries.

"My selection of [Rooney] could be used as a wedge between David Moyes and myself and there won't be any wedges put between us two," he told Sky Sports News.

"We've been friends for a long time. David understands my situation fully and put simply we have four very important games coming up.

"I haven't seen the players since we left Brazil three months ago and it's important for me to have them around.

"And even if they can't play full parts in the game - or any part at all - I want them there for these two or three days because we are a squad, we are a team, we are a group."

Hodgson remained elusive on exactly how he would use Rooney were he to give him playing time, but emphasised the fact that he would only play a part if he was fit enough to do so.

"Just because someone at this time is not fully fit to play, it doesn't mean they are not going to be an important cog in the wheel come September.

"David and Wayne understand the situation. We'll make a decision. When Wayne comes we'll assess his physical fitness," he continued. "I know David won't mind him taking part in the game but we don't want to put Wayne on the field of play if he is not ready to play.

"The last thing I would want to do is send him back to his club injured and that goes for the rest of the players too."

Neymar: Pedro has surprised me the most

    301975_heroa.jpg

Neymar says Barcelona team-mate Pedro has surprised him the most out of all the world-class players at the club.

The Brazil international joined Barca from Santos in a deal worth €57 million and opened his account for his new employers as the Blaugrana thrashed a Thailand XI 7-1 this week.

However, it has not been Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta or other world-class talents which have caught the eye of the poster boy of Brazilian football, it was Pedro, who scored a hat-trick in the pre-season friendly.

Ahead of Barca's warm-up match against a Malaysia XI on Saturday, Neymar revealed to El Mundo Deportivo: "I really like Pedro a lot. He is capable of doing everything on the pitch.

"He scores, he runs without the ball, he attacks, he defends, he does it all. He is perhaps the player who has surprised me the most."

The tricky attacker then had his say on the Liga title race and insisted that Barcelona are not solely focusing on Real Madrid.

"We are not really thinking about Madrid. We don't talk about them in the dressing room. We are not obsessed with Madrid. There are other teams that we have to keep an eye on."

Barca finished 15 points clear of los Blancos last season.

AC Milan star Balotelli buys a pet pig

    302700_heroa.jpg

For some players, purchasing Louis Vuitton bags help fill the void in their lavishly luxurious footballing lifestyles, but for AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli - always one to stand out from the crowd - it is a pet pig.

Balotelli, who is frequently in the headlines for some bizarre incidents off the field, revealed his latest addition to the family is a two-month old micro pig named 'Super'.

"Finally my little pig arrived! She is only 2 month old! Is a she but i called her SUPER! ;-)" he said on Twitter.

The 22-year-old, who famously made a pig's-ear of attempting to put his Manchester City bib on during his spell in the Premier League, was also struggling to detect what the animal's sex was.

He added: "Actually can't find the willy so i think is a she ahahahaha but maybe a he! Ahahah".

It is not the first time footballers' pets have been in the news this year as Isco's dog Messi was also a hot topic before the playmaker's move to Real Madrid from Malaga.

Liverpool's bid to sign Diego Costa is dead, admits Rodgers

    256219_heroa.jpg

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has all but ruled out a move for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.

Costa has emerged as a transfer target for the Reds this summer but both Atletico and the player himself have poured cold water on a move to Anfield for the Brazilian.

And Rodgers has now revealed that a deal to sign the 24-year-old looks unlikely as the striker has instead opted to extend his contract in Spain.

"I believe Costa has signed an extension. There’s nothing in terms of players to add," the Reds boss told reporters.

"We’ve signed players early on and we hope to sign some more before the end of the window. In the meantime, there’s nothing at the minute."

Rodgers also dismissed a move for Valencia’s Aly Cissokho, following reports that the move broke down because the Liga club were only interested in granting a loan move.

"There’s nothing on the Cissokho story," he added.

Bale would be a good signing for Madrid, says Isco

    300594_heroa.jpg

Isco feels that Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale would be a good addition for Real Madrid if the Welshman were to make the move to the Liga giants.

Bale has long been linked with a switch to the Spanish capital this summer, although president Florentino Perez has balked at the 24-year-old's proposed €115 million pricetag.

However, former Malaga man Isco believes Bale would prove a worthwhile addition to the squad, although he was quick to highlight the depth of quality already at coach Carlo Ancelotti's disposal.

"The team is really balanced but if Bale comes he would be another plus, which is never a bad thing," Isco told the official Madrid website.

"He’s a great player. I think we already have a solid team, but he would be a good reinforcement."

The attacking midfielder then went on to voice his satisfaction with the way he has adapted to life at Santiago Bernabeu following his €30m move this summer.

"Everything’s been going really well. I adapted fairly quickly and my teammates have helped me loads," he added. "There’s a really good vibe and we have to keep it that way."

Guardiola is not a magician - Sammer

    295641_heroa.jpg

Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer insists that Pep Guardiola "is not a magician" and will need time to adapt to his new surroundings.

Expectations at the Bavarians are sky-high following the 42-year-old's arrival this summer on the back of the club's treble-winning campaign of 2012-13, but Sammer feels people cannot expect Guardiola to replicate such success straight away.

"Jupp Heynckes did not win anything in his first year at Bayern Munich. Jupp is a superb trainer, no doubt about that, but he needed a bit of time as well," Sammer told Sky.

"Now everybody says Pep Guardiola doesn't need any time to adapt and this is something I cannot understand.

"We have a new coach, who will need time to get used to his players, tactical formation and the board of directors.

"He is not a magician. He works hard, talks a lot with the players and does so in German. The fact that there's a big hype surrounding him and that he won everything he could win at Barcelona counts for nothing now."

Guardiola guided Bayern to a 3-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach in his Bundesliga debut on Friday.

Ronaldo is a role model - Ancelotti

    298028_heroa.jpg

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has hailed Cristiano Ronaldo as the complete footballer and feels the Portugal international is an example to follow for the club's promising youngsters.

The Santiago Bernabeu side secured the services of youngsters Dani Carvajal, Isco, Casemiro and Asier Illarramendi this summer to add to homegrown prospects such as Alvaro Morata and Jese Rodriguez, and Ancelotti believes Portugal star Ronaldo is the perfect role model for the club's young talent.

"Cristiano is an example for the youth," Ancelotti was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"He has everything a football player needs to be great. And he is great, a really fantastic football player. He’s an example for the young players on the team.

"I ask the players for a competitive spirit, professionalism, and to be aware at all times that they belong to a club with impressive prestige."

Ronaldo's future at the club has been subject to speculation of late as talks over a new contract continue to stall, although president Florentino Perez has stressed his confidence that the 28-year-old will sign fresh terms at the club.

Madrid are currently on their USA tour ahead of next week's La Liga opener at home against Real Betis.

Martinez urges Arsenal to break the bank for Suarez

    303237_heroa.jpg

Arsenal goalkeeper Damian Martinez has urged Arsene Wenger to break the bank in order to sign Liverpool striker Luis Suarez this summer.

The Uruguayan claimed in an interview with the Guardian on Tuesday that he had been promised a move following the club's failure to secure a place in this season's Champions League.

Liverpool owner John W Henry has since reiterated that the club will not sell the 26-year-old, who is currently training away from the first team.

Arsene Wenger maintains Arsenal will continue to be "amicable" in their pursuit of Suarez and Martinez believes the forward could be the key to boosting his side's title chances.

"We are all waiting for Suarez to join Arsenal," Martinez told Goal.

"Arsene Wenger wants him more than anybody else. I hope the deal gets done so we can aim at something more than qualifying for the next Champions League.

"Let's see if we can break the bank and bring him in."

Brendan Rodgers insists the club are in control of the situation and says Suarez will be permitted to rejoin first-team training sessions when he accepts that he will remain at Anfield this summer.

Augsburg 0-4 Borussia Dortmund: Aubameyang hits hat-trick on dream Bundesliga debut

    304261hp2.jpg

Borussia Dortmund kicked off the Bundesliga season in style with a comfortable victory over Augsburg.

Summer signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang grabbed a hat-trick and was a constant threat at the SGL Arena, becoming the sixth player in Bundesliga history to net a treble on his debut.

A Robert Lewandowski penalty with just five minutes remaining capped the rout for the visitors.

Augsburg put in a workmanlike performance but failed to trouble the Dortmund defence on many occasions.

And it was Jurgen Klopp's men who almost made the perfect start in the opening minute when a Kevin Grosskreutz long ball ricocheted into the path of Aubameyang.

The striker ran down the right and played the ball into the path of Lewandowski, but the Pole’s effort was blocked by Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker.

But Markus Weinzierl's side were not overawed and pressed their opponents high up the pitch, going close through debutant Halil Altintop’s first-time volley, although it went wide of goal.

The Bavarian side's gutsy plan came undone, however, as the visitors broke the deadlock.

Marcel Schmelzer received the ball on the left before delivering an exquisite lofted cross straight into the six-yard box where Aubameyang stole away from his marker to finish with a low, diving header.

However, Augsburg's Raphael Holzhauser went close twice shortly before the break as an effort was cleared off the line, before Mitchell Langerak, in goal for the suspended Roman Weidenfeller, strongly palmed away the Austrian’s 30-yard effort.

Dortmund almost doubled their lead five minutes after the restart. Holzhauser's pass was intercepted and the away side launched a swift counter-attack.

The ball was moved to Aubameyang and the Gabon international strode into the box to fire an effort towards the near post but was only denied by a good save from Mohamed Amsif.

However, he was not to be denied moments later.

Reus took ownership of the ball in the middle of the opposition half and slid a well-timed through-ball into the path of Aubameyang, and the new-boy coolly slotted his effort across the goalkeeper into the far corner.

It got better for the forward as with 10 minutes remaining, Aubameyang sprung the offside trap to latch onto a Lewandowski through-ball before rounding Amsif and firing into the empty net.

Lewandowski completed the rout from the penalty spot following Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker's foul on Jonas Hofmann to cap-off a satisfying open-day victory for Dortmund.

Celtic 1-0 Liverpool: First-half Balde strike downs Reds in Dublin

    304284hp2.jpg

Liverpool failed to make it through pre-season unbeaten as they suffered with a 1-0 defeat to an understrength Celtic side in their final friendly fixture, at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Saturday afternoon.

Brendan Rodgers' side had won all six of their friendly fixtures but slumped to a disappointing defeat due to Amido Balde's first-half goal, despite having dominated the majority of the 90 minutes.

The Scottish champions, who fielded just three players who were involved against Elfsborg on Wednesday, were forced to defend for large periods but showed great determination and resiliance to hold on to their early lead.

The tone for the afternoon was set even before a ball was kicked as both sets of supporters joined together for a hair-raising rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone', which revuberated around all four corners of Lansdowne Road as the players emerged from the dressing rooms.

In the continued absence of wantaway striker Luis Suarez, recent summer recruit Iago Aspas was given another opportunity to impress but it was Celtic who started livelier and hit the front on 12 minutes.

Stewart Downing's attempt to win back possession only diverted the ball towards Balde, who needed no second invitation to turn inside Andre Wisdom and slot past the advancing Simon Mignolet.

The England international was determined to make amends and nearly found an instant equaliser, after Joe Allen's fine solo run but his goal-bound shot was blocked by the impressive Mikael Lustig.

Moments later, Lukasz Zaluska was called into action for the first time as Downing cut in from the right before unleashing a fierce left-footed effort, but the Celtic goalkeeper was equal to the task, pushing the ball around the post.

After a bright start, the Bhoys found themselves pegged inside their own half as Liverpool searched for an equaliser. However, they found Zaluska in inspired form after being given the chance to impress between the sticks.

Both Coutinho and Johnson saw their long-range efforts saved before the Polish shot-stopper denied Aspas his fifth goal of pre-season from close range after Joe Allen's inch-perfect pass.

A couple of changes in personnel by both sides at the break did little to alter the flow of the game as Daniel Sturridge looked to make an instant impact after being sprung from the bench. Downing and Johnson linked up down the right once again to create the opening for the striker but his curling effort went narrowly wide.

Liverpool's inability to take advantage of their dominance and convert goalscoring opportunities cost them dearly last campaign and on this showing, they have yet to address the problem. Coutinho was the latest culprit, fresh-airing Downing's cut-back with the goal at his mercy.

The five-time European Cup winners eventually had the ball in the back of the net but their celebrations were cut short as Kolo Toure was flagged offside after heading home Gerrard's set-piece.

As the game wore on, Celtic began to drop deeper and deeper but continued to defend resoultely and with great organisation to nullify the threat of their opponents' talented attack.

Some more neat exchange-play between Coutinho and Gerrard allowed Jordon Ibe time and space on the right but he hesitated, allowing Stuart Findlay to make the covering block.

Urged on by thousands of Reds supporters in the stands, Liverpool tried in vain to find an equaliser as Sturridge spurned another glorious opportunity, this time steering his lob wide of the upright after beating substitute keeper Fraser Forster.

Southampton 4-3 Real Sociedad: Puncheon nicks late winner in pulsating clash

    304253hp2.jpg

Defensive lapses threatened to derail them but Southampton's attacking endeavour eventually prevailed as they beat Real Sociedad 4-3 in their final pre-season game at St Mary's Stadium.

Adam Lallana scored early as Saints dominated but errors at the back allowed Gorka Elustado and ex-Arsenal youngster Carlos Vela to strike back. Each time, however, the hosts responded immediately through Morgan Schneiderlin and Jos Hooiveld.

Haris Seferovic's second-half finish, supplied by Vela after a dazzling run, looked to have ensured parity but substitute Jason Puncheon was on hand to prod home a scrappy winner late in the day.

Celebrating his first England call-up, Rickie Lambert started in a close-to-full-strength home side, with only Maya Yoshida, Gaston Ramirez and the injured Nathaniel Clyne missing from the coming season's likely first-choice XI.

Given a monstrous reception from the adoring crowd, Southampton's No.7 nearly vindicated the triumphant "Lambert for England!" chants by spotting keeper Claudio Bravo off his line in the early stages. His thumping volley from over 40 yards would have floated just wide but was narrowly plucked out.

He turned provider for Lallana shortly after, however. Relishing his role behind the striker, the Saints captain ghosted between the Sociedad defence to finish calmly from Lambert's pass.

Mauricio Pochettino's men continued to attack with verve and intent, looking to make a statement against Champions League opposition. From all over the pitch, red shirts burst into the box while Hooiveld had an effort cleared off the line before a follow-up came back off the bar.

Sociedad were not totally quietened, however, and Southampton were punished just before the half-hour as Haris Seferovic played the ball into the area low from the left and the hosts were too slow to react. After a quick game of penalty-box ping-pong, Elustondo slammed home.

Saints responded confidently, Schneiderlin pushing forward from midfield and rounding Bravo to finish into an empty net.

The game quickly turned frantic. Again, Sociedad piereced Saints' high line, with a longer ball this time, and Vela outpaced young right-back Calum Chambers to slot home coolly.

But just moments later, Southampton won a free kick and Lallana lifted a cross onto the head of Hooiveld, who nodded past Bravo to restore the lead once more.

There were five minutes of chaos before the half-time whistle. First Lambert and Alberto de la Bella were both booked for a scuffle over an alleged elbow before Saints heads dropped as starlet Luke Shaw had to limp off injured after a nasty fall.

After several changes, the game quietened following half-time, with Rodriguez, now at centre forward, having a shot saved just before the hour after breaking down the right.

Sociedad were the most switched on, though, and Vela in particular. The Mexican danced through nearly half the home team as he schemed through midfield and let loose Seferovic at Kelvin Davis' left-hand post to score.

The visitors should have taken the lead when stand-in right-back Jack Cork headed poorly towards his keeper and Antoine Griezmann drifted in to pounce but the midfielder somehow lobbed it wide with acres of goal at his mercy.

At the other end, the sleepy Saints finally woke up after more substitutions but thought they had spurned a fourth when Emmanuel Mayuka bundled Fox's low cross wide.

As the minutes ticked away, however, Puncheon was on hand to prod home a rather desperate winner and cap off an entertaining warm-up.

Aston Villa 3-2 Malaga: Benteke on form in entertaining home victory

    304263hp2.jpg

Aston Villa emerged victorious in a closely fought 3-2 victory over Malaga at Villa Park, with striker Christian Benteke scoring a first-half brace.

Paul Lambert’s side scored three times in the first half with a headed goal from Ron Vlaar that was met either side of a Christian Benteke brace, before Jores Okore scored an own goal on his home debut.

Last season’s Champions League semi-finalists pulled another back on the hour mark with a curled strike from Sergi Darder but Bernd Schuster’s side couldn’t find an equaliser and ended their pre-season preparations with a second defeat of the summer.

The home side came into the fixture off the back of three consecutive victories, handing new signings Okore and Aleksandar Tonev starts from the off having missed the majority of pre-season through injury, with Benteke leading the line in attack.

Malaga appeared to match their counterparts with a similar formation, travelling to Villa Park with the familiar face of Roque Santa Cruz up front with Bartolomiej Pawlowski and Fabrice Olinga providing width on either side.

Benteke received a generous round of applause on his first home game since signing a new contract, but it was right winger Pawlowski who came closest inside ten minutes, firing a fierce shot from distance that was inches away from the bar.

Malaga were gifted a chance when a skewed clearance from Okore allowed Santa Cruz time for a shot but were punished minutes later when Benteke put Villa ahead; the striker showing strength inside the area to brush off two defenders and force a shot on goal.

Villa doubled their lead just moments after their 19th-minute applause for former captain Stillian Petrov had finished, when a Matt Lowton corner met a towering leap from current captain Vlaar to power home with an unmarked header.

The home side were enjoying themselves in attack and continued the pressure by forcing a penalty just before the half-hour mark. A through-ball from Tonev was weighted perfectly for Benteke who readily dispatched from twelve-yards out after he was brought down by Marcos Angeleri.

But with minutes remaining in the first half Malaga pulled one back when a cross into the box from Pawlowski found the net off Okore. His delivery from the right-hand side hit the unsuspecting Denmark international to land him with an own-goal on his home debut.

Malaga had found their rhythm early on in the second half and capitalized with a stunning curled effort from Darder. The midfielder was picked out on the edge of the box by Olinga and found the top-right corner of the net to reduce the deficit to just one goal.

Despite an improved performance from Schuster’s side in the second half, Villa held on to grasp victory on the final game of their pre-season and will now travel to Arsenal on opening day of the league campaign with an unbeaten run.

Arsenal 3-1 Manchester City: Walcott helps Gunners blow away Pellegrini's men

    304264hp2.jpg

Arsenal laid down a marker ahead of the new Premier League season by defeating Manchester City 3-1 at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki in the two sides' final pre-season fixture.

The Gunners took an early lead, somewhat against the run of play, as Theo Walcott raced through on goal and effortlessly chipped the ball into the back of the net.

The England international also had a hand in both the north London club's second-half goals, releasing Aaron Ramsey to double the lead before Olivier Giroud added a third with a fantastic lob, though Alvaro Negredo grabbed a late consolation for City.

Arsenal were close to full strength, with Laurent Koscielny and Jack Wilshere returning to the starting XI and Lukas Podolski starting up front ahead of in-form Giroud. Manuel Pellegrini also fielded a strong side, pairing Edin Dzeko alongside new-boy Negredo upfront.

Both sides came into the match off the back of defeats, against Galatasaray and Bayern Munich respectively. Although last season's Premier League runners-up controlled the opening exchanges, with Pablo Zabaleta overlapping to great effect, it was Arsenal who took the lead.

In a rare moment of possession after City's early dominance, Wilshere found a pocket of space in the hole and sent a wonderfully weighted through-ball behind Gael Clichy for Walcott. The 24-year-old latched onto the pass and sent a cute dink over the onrushing Joe Hart.

City almost produced an instant response. James Milner freed David Silva down the right channel and continued his run into the box. The Spaniard returned the ball, but Milner's powerful shot flew over the bar.

A long, hopeful punt into the box almost caused Wojciech Szczesny embarrassment, with Negredo out-jumping the Poland international before Koscielny booted the ex-Sevilla striker's acrobatic effort clear from beneath his own crossbar.

Arsenal were looking most dangerous on the counterattack, and it was another swift break that almost brought a second goal. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain fed Bacary Sagna, cutting infield, whose fierce low drive brushed the fingertips of Hart and smashed against the foot of the post.

Each side made three changes at the break, though City maintained their control over proceedings. Yaya Toure released Negredo with a floated pass behind the Arsenal defence, but substitute keeper Lukasz Fabianski rushed off his line and pushed the ball away from goal.

The 27-year-old, the fourth-highest scorer in La Liga last term, wasted another chance moments later. Once again breaking the Gunners' offside trap, the Spaniard collected Silva's through-ball but fired wide of the far post.

Negredo's profligacy would prove costly. Ramsey picked up the ball and drove forward, before playing an inventive one-two with Walcott. Half-time substitute Giroud dummied the winger's return pass, allowing Ramsey to burst through on goal, round Hart and pass the ball into an empty net.

Walcott turned provider again moments later. This time he arched a long-range, cross-field pass into the path of Giroud, who beat Vincent Kompany to the ball before executing a perfect lob from the edge of the box, leaving Hart helpless.

City's control of the ball finally paid dividends with time running out, as the previously wasteful Negredo raced through on goal, fending off Koscielny with astonishing ease to calmly rolled the ball under Fabianski – though it was too little, too late for City.
