Gary Neville: Manchester United need new players but no-one will sell them 
Manchester United need help in the form of up to four new players but are going to struggle to sign them, says Gary Neville.A Samuel Eto'o hat-trick gave Chelsea a 3-1 win over United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday which leaves David Moyes' side seventh in the Premier League.
Sky Sports expert Neville admitted he fears for his former club as they slumped to their seventh defeat in the league this season and says they desperately need some fresh blood in the squad.Neville said: "It's always been difficult here but you were watching a team that are in the position they are in the league for a reason and Chelsea actually had more than them even though they were not at their best and that would be the worry.
"I would never get too despondent because that's not the way I look at it, but you would never say as a Manchester United person at the club that we need to sign players."It's the last thing you say because you have respect for your team-mates, you have respect for the players who are in your club, you always rely on the quality of the development teams to come through, but there are a group of players out there who need help.
"They're a good bunch of lads out there who have won the Champions League and many trophies for United, but they need inspiration and they need lifting. You saw the effect of Ozil at Arsenal, those players, that manager they need fresh blood and they know that.
"They're not scouring all over Europe and travelling all over Europe and being spotted at Juventus and Madrid because they don't want to sign players, they need to sign players."I don't think it needs a rebuild, I honestly don't. I think two, three, four players - but the problem is everyone knows they want top players and to get them will be so difficult because nobody wants to sell them."
Transfers
It's long been said that United need to strengthen in midfield and Neville is still adamant this is the key area, but warns fans that the reigning Premier League winners will struggle to sign players because other clubs know they are desperate, which only makes things harder in an already difficult January transfer window."They need a midfield player or two, it's obvious," added Neville.
"They've lost Anderson on loan, Darren Fletcher has just come back, Paul Scholes has retired, Owen Hargreaves left a year and a half ago - they haven't strengthened in that area."They were playing a centre-back in midfield today with Phil Jones, but it's not the only area. They need to get Wayne Rooney and Van Persie fit too."I think it's a squad that needs an impetus and when you sign players at a squad it brings a new lease of life to everybody and that's what it needs to me, not a rebuild. There's a lot of good young talent there.
"I think if they could go and sign four top players for huge money in the next week I think they would go and do it straight away. I think the problem is getting them."We know Arsenal want a striker, we know Chelsea want a striker; there are teams in the league that also want to put money in. Bayern Munich, Real Madrid Paris St-Germain and Monaco probably want players and they have all got huge money."So the fact of the matter is they're in a market that is starved of top players when there are six or seven clubs who are going to be throwing big money at them.
"I'm pretty certain if those players were there and available they would go and spend the money this week."
Missed targets
United's only signing of note of the 2013 summer transfer window was Marouane Fellaini, while their efforts to get Everton's Leyton Baines, Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona and big money rumours of bids for Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale all fell by the wayside.
Neville believes those failed transfer attempts are what had caused havoc on United's season and now Moyes needs to start making decisions about the players he's already got.Neville said: "They tried to sign Fabregas and Baines in the summer we all know that. We know that there were bids potentially for Ronaldo and Bale.
"So if they'd have signed Fabregas, Bale or Ronaldo and had Baines - which we know they tried to do - I think you'd be looking at a completely different Manchester United side."They didn't get the targets they wanted and that is going to be a problem going forward for them because they want the same players.
"They will remain calm, Manchester United don't panic. The manager will get time to build his team, he'll get time to develop his squad. At the moment the players are playing for their future at Manchester United because they've got to impress that manager and the more games they lose the more he'll be thinking are you the right person for me to take forward."There are a lot of good players in that squad but he's got decisions to make in the next six months. There's no doubt he (Moyes) needs players, the players need players, they need help and support.
"They signed Fellaini in summer, who is injured at the moment, but they need three or four players, but they knew that in the summer because they bid for three or four players."

David Moyes insists Manchester United will be not be making panic buys this month
Manchester United manager David Moyes insists they will not panic and dive into the January transfer market, despite seeing his side slip further out of Premier League title contention after a 3-1 defeat at Chelsea.Samuel Eto'o grabbed a hat-trick for Jose Mourinho's men to give the west London giants all three points.

The Reds have conceded 28 goals in the Premier League this season, the highest of any side in the top seven, although they have balanced their goal difference by scoring 53 times.

The challenge came minutes after Nemanja Vidic was sent off for a reckless tackle on Eden Hazard, and the 28-year-old hinted that Rafael should have followed the Serbia man down the tunnel.
“I didn't get hurt and it's gone now, I've got no problems if he tackles me as hard as he wants as long as it's fair,” the England international told the club’s official website.
“I do feel he lunged in two-footed, I don't know why but thankfully I rode it and I didn't get injured.
“It was a very important game and a very hard game. We played really well in the first half and I think we controlled the match. It's massive for the confidence and a massive three points.
“It's important to be on top of our game, we played well and we deserved the three points.”

Newcastle reach agreement to sign Cabella
Newcastle have reached an agreement to sign Montpellier midfielder Remy Cabella in the summer, according to la Paillade president Laurent Nicollin.
The attacking midfielder has featured 20 times in Ligue 1 this season for Rolland Courbis’ side and is the club’s top scorer with six goals.
Cabella had been expected to move to St James Park during this transfer window but Nicollin insists that the two clubs have a deal for a summer move.
"We have an agreement with the leaders of Newcastle that I will not reveal," Nicollin told Midi Libre.
"But it does not include a departure for [Loic] Remy before June, it is a certainty."
Cabella has spent his whole career with Montpellier having come through the club’s youth academy, and has scored 15 times in 68 league appearances.
A move to Tyneside would mean a reunion with former Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, who joined the Magpies from the French club a year ago.
Newcastle have appeared favourites to sign Cabella in recent weeks after Manchester United and Arsenal were both previously reported to be interested.

Astori may leave on the cheap, hints Cagliari chief
Cagliari president Massimo Cellino has suggested that in-demand centre-back Davide Astori could leave on the cheap in January.
Astori - who was watched by Manchester United manager David Moyes earlier this month as part of a scouting trip to see the club take on Juventus - has five Italy caps to his name and is one of Cagliari's most prized assets following Radja Nainggolan's departure to Roma.
Cellino has been routinely frustrated by his blocked attempts to finance a new stadium for the Sardinia-based club - who have been forced to play home games in Trieste, some 670 miles away.
And with a perceived lack of ambition leading Cellino to let Nainggolan move to Roma this month, he has claimed he would happily allow Astori to follow.
"If tomorrow I was asked about Astori or others, I would let them go," Cellino told L'Unione Sarda.
"I cannot protect my boys and so I could give them all away, as was the case for Nainggolan.
"Radja was wanted by PSG and Manchester City, but I succumbed to Roma. He did not want to leave, he had to.
"Zenit were willing to pay €25 million last summer, Juventus offered €20m and were prepared to let me have him until the end of the season (on loan).
"But he could not stay here. How can he grow in a team with no ambition?
"He has gone to Roma. There he will grow with champions like (Francesco) Totti and (Daniele) De Rossi, a good coach and a club that already loves him."

Barcelona announce €600 million Camp Nou renovation
Barcelona have announced they will submit plans to a referendum for a €600 million renovation of their famous Camp Nou stadium, which could see its capacity boosted to 105,000.
The Blaugrana initially considered building a brand new stadium at a site near the Avenida Diagonal - one of the main financial and commercial areas of the city.
But a projected cost of €1.2 billion was deemed too expensive by the club's hierarchy, with officials fearful of the Catalans' long-term financial security had those plans gone ahead.
Instead, the reigning Liga champions will spend half that sum on rebuilding the stadium on its existing site, with a retractable roof set to be installed in a spectacular makeover.
"This was a difficult decision, both options were very attractive but we decided to go ahead and stay at Les Corts," said Barca president Sandro Rosell after a board meeting on Monday.
"The Camp Nou is part of our collective memory. It is the largest stadium in Europe and is an icon of the city of Barcelona.
"The option of building a new stadium on a new site has been dismissed as the final cost could well mortgage the club."
Construction work is set to be undertaken between May 2017 and February 2021, with plans also including a new Palau Blaugrana and an Espai Barca.
The referendum will take place on the weekend of April 5/6 - the same weekend Barcelona host Betis at Camp Nou.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho underwent surgery on a long-standing elbow problem on Monday, the west London club have confirmed.
The Portuguese, who oversaw a 3-1 victory over Manchester United on Sunday, is believed to have travelled to Paris for the operation.
“Jose Mourinho today underwent a minor arthroscopic procedure on a long-standing elbow complaint,” read a tweet from the club's official Twitter account on Monday.
“He will return to work tomorrow.”
The 50-year-old, thought to have aggravated an old childhood injury, will return to work on Tuesday as the side prepare for their FA Cup fourth-round clash with Stoke City on Sunday.

Too much is expected of Ozil, says Wenger
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes there is too much expectation placed on playmaker Mesut Ozil by the club's fans.
The 25-year-old made an instant impact following his club-record move from Real Madrid in September, and has helped the gunners to the top of the Premier League table.
However, some unspectacular performances of late, coupled with a goal drought that extends back to December 8, have seen the Germany international's €50 million price tage called into question.
But Wenger feels fans can be guilty of demanding too much from Ozil, particularly in terms of goalscoring.
"Sometimes people expect him to make the difference alone," the Frenchman told the club's official website.
"Sometimes when it doesn't work you expect him to take the ball and put it in the net. He is more a passer than a finisher.
"[Goalscoring] is one of the things he can add to his game for sure. It doesn't need to be criticised; it needs to be encouraged.
"He is 25, he can only get better. The best years are coming for him now."
Arsenal confirmed on Monday that Wolfsburg assistant manager Andries Jonker will become the head of their academy in July, replacing the departing Liam Brady - news that has been welcomed by Wenger.
"I am very pleased that Andries is joining us," he added.
"He has a big reputation in the game and was a key part of the team that developed the structures that are now producing such strong young players in Netherlands.
"I look forward to working with him. I would also like to thank Liam for his work, which has been outstanding over many years."

Honda: I am only at 50 per cent
Recent AC Milan arrival Keisuke Honda admits that he has not yet been produced his best form for his new club, claiming that he is currently only at "50 per cent".
The Japan international, who joined the Rossoneri from CSKA Moscow at the start of the month, made his first Serie A start on Sunday, as Clarence Seedorf's side beat Verona 1-0 thanks to a Mario Balotelli penalty.
Honda, who had featured on two previous occasions for Milan, was replaced midway through the second half of the game at San Siro and was the first to concede that he has yet to hit top form.
“I'd say I am just at 50 percent of my level of play,” the attacking midfielder told reporters after the win over Verona.
“I still have to improve my game quality but it was nice to be able to win this match.
“We had some problems in controlling the ball, so we have to further improve in this regard and also in being able to score more.
"I think we will face more and more opponents who will defend and try to get a goal on the break.
“To win against these teams will improve our game, though. We train for this.”
However, the for the moment, Honda's aim is to build up a rapport with new boss Seedorf, who replaced Massimiliano Allegri as Milan coach last week.
“We communicate well in English," he said of the Dutchman. "We just have to take a little more time to talk about the type of football that he wants to play and what they expect from me."
