    Mihajlovic open to Ibrahimovic arrival

    zlatanibrahimovic-cropped_ncm04ebpbd901h0z8dvrrwzad.jpg

AC Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic says he is open to signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.Ibrahimovic has continually been linked with a return to the club where he won the 2010-11 Serie A title.

Mihajlovic was quizzed about the 33-year-old and told Sport Mediaset: "He is an important player who has always done well.

"We'd have to see what happens, I don't know if he'll leave Paris or not. That's not up to me."I am here to be a coach, not to work on the transfer market."

Ibrahimovic scored 30 goals in all competitions last season as PSG claimed the domestic treble and reached the Champions League quarter-finals.Mihajlovic was also asked about another transfer target, Alessio Romagnoli. The 20-year-old Roma centre-back is reportedly set for a move to Milan but Mihajlovic refused to discuss the player's future.

"I won't talk about players I do not have at my disposal," he added."Romagnoli is an important player with great potential, but he is not Milan's."

    Alexis FINALLY takes a break

    1279052_heroa.jpg

Arsenal fans can rest assured ahead of the 2015-16 season, as Alexis Sanchez has finally taken a break!

Alexis made 52 appearances in all competitions last season, including 35 in the Premier League, despite Wenger revealing in December that his star man was in the “red zone”.

But worry not, Gunners fans. While Wenger appeared reluctant to let the £35 million signing chill out, Alexis has taken matters into his own hands.

Posting a picture on his official Instagram account, Alexis appeared relaxed in front of a tropical beach, with the word “relax” written as the caption.

After scoring 25 goals and providing 12 assists in 2014-15, Alexis certainly deserves some time to himself.

'Witsel could replace Pogba or Vidal'

    axel-witsel-zenit-30052015_8bfwmxpmiprq1u7t1kyqol0mw.jpg

Juventus could sign Axel Witsel as a replacement for Paul Pogba or Arturo Vidal, according to the midfielder's agent.Pogba has been the subject of bids from Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona this summer, though both offers have been rejected.

However, further interest is expected, with Real Madrid, Manchester City and Manchester United also believed to be keeping an eye on the France international.

Pogba's team-mate Vidal has also been linked with Arsenal, and should either depart then Juve could move for Zenit St Petersburg's Witsel. His agent Riccardo Napolitano said to Ilsussidiario.net: "The boy has decided to leave Zenit.

"He wants to play for a club playing at a greater level than the Russian league and compete in a division full of stars. Italy is a destination he is keen on. "He likes Juventus a lot. He would be considered a first alternative to Pogba or Vidal if they were to leave. Juventus would immediately turn to him."

Juve could also face competition from AC Milan for the 26-year-old's signature, whose current deal with Zenit expires in June 2017.

Real Madrid make Casilla bid as doubts grow over De Gea move

    david-de-gea-manchester-united-04042015_yauu77stbrbd1umz7zujs2rim.jpg

Real Madrid's hot pursuit of Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla has cast doubt over a possible move for Manchester United's David De Gea and the future of Keylor Navas, Goal understands.

The Spanish giants are ready to sanction the sale of club stalwart Iker Casillas to Porto and are now determined to acquire Casilla this summer to replace the Porto-bound World Cup winner.

Madrid still own 50 per cent of the 28-year-old former academy graduate's rights and the clause means that Rafael Benitez’s men will be forced to pay, at most, just half of his €20 million release fee.

The decision to make his recruitment a top priority means the board will either drop the pursuit of Manchester United's De Gea or sell Keylor Navas.Benitez and club executives have already told the Costa Rica international that they trust him, but are said to have reached an agreement with De Gea to sign him this summer should United eventually accept a bid.

De Gea appeared destined for a return to the Spanish capital this summer but the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper's future appears less certain now that his current understudy Victor Valdes is in disucssions with Antalyaspor, according to the Turkish club.

United are understood to have identified Ajax's Jasper Cillessen as a potential replacement for De Gea but are yet to make a formal move having been given renewed hope of keeping De Gea at Old Trafford.

During a press conference to unveil new signing Memphis Depay on Friday, United Manager Louis van Gaal was at pains to point out De Gea's professionalism since returning to training this week, despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future.

He said: He [De Gea] is a very professional player and he showed fantastic attitude until now and I think that for all my players – not only De Gea but others who have to behave themselves very professionally.

"It is also good that Memphis does that. That is the difficulty now for every manager. This period when players have to go or not have to go is the most difficult time. I cannot complain about the professional attitude of my players.”
After seeing a €4m bid for Spain international Casilla rejected this week Madrid, meanwhile, are set to step up the chase by offering the same amount plus Marco Asensio on loan, though Espanyol are willing to settle for €6m and the 19-year-old winger.

Madrid will to travel to Australia on Sunday for their pre-season tour and Casillas is not expected to join them, with Navas the man expected to line up in the first team instead.

    1617592_heroa.jpg

Newcastle have confirmed they have completed the signing of Netherlands international Georginio Wijnaldum from PSV Eindhoven.

Goal understands that the Magpies agreed a fee of £13 million for the midfielder, with club director Lee Charnley working to broker the deal during the week.

Newcastle boss Steve McClaren confirmed on Thursday that the club were closing in on the 24-year-old, and the deal has now been confirmed by the club, with Wijnaldum signing a five-year deal.

"I'm delighted to be a Newcastle United player," he told the club's official website.

"I felt the time was right for me to move and the Club have shown they really want me, so I'm very happy to be here.

"There's a few players here who are from Holland - I know them well and they will help me feel at home in Newcastle.

"I know the club has a great stadium with great fans. I want to play here as soon as possible - I want to feel the atmosphere and hear the crowd. I cannot wait to get started."

:baffled:Victor Valdes in talks with Antalyaspor

    1430302_heroa.jpg

Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes is in talks over a move to Antalyaspor, the Turkish club have confirmed.

The newly-promoted Super Lig side have been unafraid to splash the cash on an ambitious recruitment policy this summer, with former Barcelona stars Samuel Eto'o and Ronaldinho already on board.

Valdes looks set to be the third ex-Barca man on the way, with Antalyaspor press officer Hasan Ali Ceylan announcing that negotiations with the player have begun.

"We are in talks with Victor Valdes," he told Eurospor TR. "Once an agreement is reached, we will be able to sign yet another world star to Antalyaspor."

Valdes is not the only United goalkeeper expected to leave Old Trafford this summer, with first choice David de Gea linked to succeed Iker Casillas at Real Madrid.

Cabaye: I joined Crystal Palace to retain France place

    886772_heroa.jpg

Yohan Cabaye says he has joined Crystal Palace because he is desperate to retain his place in the France squad.

Cabaye sealed his transfer to the Eagles from Paris Saint-Germain on Friday, in a deal Goal understands will be worth around €14 million.

The former Newcastle United midfielder has 38 international caps to his name but has struggled to nail down a place in Laurent Blanc’s starting XI, with his opportunities limited at PSG.

Cabaye says that he has no qualms about moving to Palace from PSG, who regularly feature in the Champions League, and is hopeful that he can force his way into the squad for Euro 2016.

"Sincerely, no, and in any case, this point does not concern me," he told L'Equipe when asked if he could come to regret moving to Selhurst Park. "In England there are no easy matches. You can beat a top-four team one week then lose to a weaker side the next.

"I would like it to have happened differently [at PSG] and I have done all I could to change the situation. But it's like that in a career: there are highs and lows.

"Making the squad for Euro 2016 is my big objective. I want to show Didier Deschamps I'm still here and I'll work as a consequence. I'll do everything to regain the rhythm I had before signing for Paris."

Cabaye is also hopeful of helping the club secure a top-eight finish in the Premier League, and has set his sights on also lifting some silverware.

"There is a desire to build a solid team," he added. "Like I said, the owner wants to make something good, to install the team in the top eight of the Premier Leage.

"If the chance presents itself, why not win one of the national cups? In any case, I'm really keen to return and taste this extraordinary league again."

Wenger: It was tough to buy Cech but he'll improve Arsenal

    petr-cech-arsenal-unveiling_6f1wkoy9skcw15ykxxf8g2lvf.jpg

Arsene Wenger admits he agonised over his decision to buy Petr Cech from Chelsea, but he believes the Czech Republic international will boost the belief at the Emirates Stadium.

Cech completed his transfer to the Emirates last week, with the Gunners paying a reported €14 million fee to acquire his signature.

Wenger says that “it was a very, very tough decision” to sign Cech because of the respective talents of David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny, but he insists that the 33-year-old’s experience will prove invaluable.

“I have two great goalkeepers," he told Arsenal Player. "I think Cech can make them better as well.

“He has huge experience and the fact that he has won more big trophies can strengthen the belief of the team. That can help them to develop and that’s what I expect from him.

“You always want to improve the experience level of your squad and I thought he could help us gain something on that front.

“I still think he has a huge hunger. When I saw him with Chelsea last year he was always convincing and I’m happy that we could do it. His kind of knowledge and experience can help us.”

Cech won four Premier League trophies, four FA Cups, three League Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League during his time at the Blues.

Bartomeu: Luis Enrique didn't want Pogba

    paul-pogba-juventus-serie-a-250115_2s9rl0pyvso11w24fi4iw7a6q.jpg

Ex-Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has revealed Luis Enrique wasn't interested in signing Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba last season.

Barca had an €80 million offer for the France international rejected last week, with Bartomeu later revealing the club wouldn't sign him until next year at the earliest.
Bartomeu resigned in June but is hoping to be re-elected after making the final round of voting in the club's presidential elections "Luis Enrique did not ask for Pogba," he told Cadena Cope. "The trip to Juventus was not foreseen when I left, but the club is still working."

Barca unveiled Ardan Turan on Friday after he completed a €40m deal from Atletico Madrid, and Bartomeu revealed he began working on the deal weeks ago.
"I spoke with Arda approximately around the dates of the Champions League final to tell him we wanted to sign him."When I left the transfer was very advanced but it wasn't finished. Arda and Aleix Vidal are the two players who Luis Enrique asked for."

The hunt for Pogba remains intense, with Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and both Manchester clubs credited with a serious interest in the 22-year-old.

    Real Madrid's Casilla offer rejected

    kiko-casilla-espanyol_1wgbpffjmi9tf1oalw0xntajzr.jpg

Real Madrid's move for Kiko Casilla has been rebuffed by Espanyol, the latter club's president has confirmed.Casilla, who left the Santiago Bernabeu in 2007, could be set for a return to Madrid as the Blancos consider filling Iker Casillas' void with him.

However, Espanyol have refused to enter into talks with Rafa Benitez's side - who retain 50 per cent of the 28-year-old's rights - following a €4 million bid."There are no negotiations open with Real Madrid right now," the Barcelona club's official Twitter quote president Joan Collet as saying. "We rejected the offer."

Espanyol are believed to be willing to accept a €6m bid that includes a loan for Marco Asension in exchange for one-time capped Spain international Casilla, who will compete with either Keylor Navas or Manchester United's David de Gea for a spot between the sticks in 2015-16.

:(:(:sorry:Van Persie deal is done, say Fenerbahce

    1015042_heroa.jpg

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has completed a move to Fenerbahce, according to the Turkish club's chairman Aziz Yildirim.

Fenerbahce announced on Thursday that they had opened talks with United over the potential signing of the Dutchman, and it appears that they have now finalised a deal for Van Persie.

"We worked very hard, until midnight. We received five faxes, sent six faxes and finally it was finished," Yildirim told Hurriyet.

"The Van Persie transfer is done and one more star has joined the Fenerbahce constellation.”

Goal understands that Van Persie had been in talks with United over a compensation package that would see the striker leave the club, with the former Arsenal forward keen to have the final year of his contract paid up.

When the transfer is officially announced, the 31-year-old will link up with his former United team-mate Nani, who joined the club earlier this week.

    McAllister appointed Liverpool first-team coach

    garymcallister-cropped_zre82ejm89fq18iyb3hs9rj6q.jpg

Gary McAllister has been appointed Liverpool first-team coach, the club have confirmed.

Goal reported on Wednesday that manager Brendan Rodgers had met with the Scot , who spent two years at the club as a player between 2000 and 2002, to discuss the possibility of a coaching role.

McAllister was a part of the side that won the treble in 2001, helping the club win the FA Cup, the League Cup and Uefa Cup, and also had a brief spell as caretaker boss of Aston Villa four years ago.

Speaking of his return to Anfield, McAllister told the club's official website: "I'm delighted. I'm really excited about the prospect of coming back. It's fantastic and I'm really looking forward to it.

"I feel as if I owe Liverpool, getting that opportunity at the last stage of my career, at 35 and getting that opportunity.

"This is similar, I feel the same as I did with that - that was a surprise phone call back then when I was given a chance to come and play at Liverpool as a 35-year-old.

"Right place at the right time, and I just hope it repeats itself. A lot of hard work and dedication... everything is there, Liverpool is a club where you can win things - that's a fact."

Rodgers added: "Gary has a special connection with this club and its supporters, and I'm delighted he is joining our team as first-team coach.

"When I met him I was struck by his passion, enthusiasm and knowledge for what we're looking to achieve here.

"He has experience coaching at the highest level and is someone who can connect with players and help them learn from his knowledge and understanding of representing this great club."

    :cool:Schweinsteiger set for Manchester United

    i

Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that Bastian Schweinsteiger is set to join Manchester United.

The Premier League giants unveiled Netherlands winger Memphis Depay on Friday and are following up the capture of the former PSV winger with the signing of the German World Cup winner.

Schweinsteiger has just one year remaining on his current Bayern contract and has commanded a transfer fee in the region of £12 million.

"My colleagues at Manchester United have been in touch," Rummenigge told reporters at a press conference on Saturday. "We've reached an agreement over a transfer. Bastian wants to do something new at the end of his career. He asked that we meet his wishes.

"I regret that he wants to leave because Bastian is one of the best-performing players that we have. He has done great things with the club."

United have offered the 30-year-old a three-year deal and wages of £180,000-a-week, a salary in line with his current earnings at Bayern, as well as a £4m signing-on fee.
Louis van Gaal, who coached Schweinsteiger during a successful spell managing the Bundesliga giants, is understood to be the driving force behind the deal as he intensifies his efforts to strengthen a squad that needs bolstering in order to cope with the demands of domestic and European football next season.

Goal understands that certain members of the United hierarchy harbour reservations over the deal, particularly in light of Schweinsteiger’s age and ongoing fitness issues, but Van Gaal is confident his experience and enduring class will be of major benefit to his squad.

The Dutchman has so far been frustrated in his attempts to land Southampton’s midfield enforcer Morgan Schneiderlin with United reluctant to meet the south coast club’s £25m valuation.

Schweinsteiger, however, is not viewed as an alternative to the France international and United remain confident they will secure both players - who will be expected to compete with Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera and Daley Blind for places in Van Gaal’s starting XI - before the window closes.

United expect to be busy in the market before the start of the new Premier League campaign, which starts in little under a month’s time. The club are yet to resolve David de Gea’s future but have been given fresh hope of hanging on to the Spain international in light of Real Madrid’s move for Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

Radamel Falcao’s substantial wages have been shed from the books following his loan move from Monaco to Chelsea, while Angel Di Maria is understood to have his heart set on a move to Bayern following a similarly underwhelming debut campaign at Old Trafford.

PSG are also closely monitoring the Argentina international’s situation, while Robin van Persie is on the verge of completing a move to Fenerbahce, with the Turkish side confirming that the former Arsenal captain was due to arrive in Istanbul for a medical.

Johnson poised to complete Stoke switch with Begovic to leave

    glen-johnson-liverpool_1peledg4kch0q1qo90or9wio4h.jpg

Mark Hughes has confirmed that Glen Johnson is set to join Stoke City, while goalkeeper Asmir Begovic will move to Chelsea.

Goal revealed in June that the Blues had identified Begovic as a replacement for Petr Cech, who joined Arsenal last week, and Hughes has now confirmed that the deal is nearing completion.

Johnson, meanwhile, is a free agent after the expiry of his contract at Liverpool, having started just 15 Premier League games in 2014-15.

"Glen is a very experienced player and we feel the qualities he has will help us," Hughes told Sky Sports. "We're a team that is trying to progress and do that by getting good players into the squad.

"Glen has played at a high level for a very long time and we can benefit from that."

Hughes has also revealed that the club's attempts to sign Xherdan Shaqiri from Inter have failed, with the club giving up hope of landing the Switzerland international.

"We expressed interest and put a bid in, but we needed to set a deadline, because we have other irons in fire," Hughes added. "We've stepped aside and will move onto other things."
