Is anyone a fan of watching satellite TV for free in Sri Lanka?
A number of years ago there were so many channels available, now not so many. But there are still a few!
Anyway, here is what you will need:
1. A free to air satellite decoder. You can get from Pettah, or eBay, or wherever - maybe 5000 rupees or so.
2. A satellite dish. There are two types of satellite signals available, they are KU (SMALL DISH, e.g. dialog TV) and C band (big dish, 6 feet minimum).
Next, you have to go to lyngsat and see what satellites are available. http://www.lyngsat.com/asia.html
For example
http://www.lyngsat.com/AsiaSat-3S.html
Now, if you look at that chart, some channels have light yellow background. That means they are free!!!!!!!
As you can see, Fashion TV is free!
also some nice channels like DW tv, RT, etc.....
To the left there is a number, e.g. 3760H, tp4h. this means 3760 mhz, Horizontal polarity, transponder 4H. Now you don't have to worry much but the 33760 mhz means this is a C band channel you need a C band dish.
If there is a big number like 12729 Mhz it is a KU band, and you can use small dish!
If you are interested I will write more on this topic...
