Far Cry Primal adds permadeath, 4K textures on PC next month

Far Cry Primal players on all platforms will be able to download the new Survival Mode as part of a free patch coming in April. And, PC players care getting 4K textures with the patch.

According to the Far Cry Primal developer post on the Ubisoft Blog, the mode adds permadeath, which means it’s game over the first time you die – unless you’re doing a Vision mission. Because they aren’t “real,” ya know.Players will be given a second-chance option though, which provides one backup life. It can be replenished by reaching certain completion points.

The combo of Survivor and permadeath will be available at any difficulty level, so players can try the new Survival mode or ramp things up with permadeath at will.A stamina gauge has been added to the mode. As it runs out, the player will become “slower and weaker” and force the player to sleep in order to replenish.

The minimap is turned off by default and the fog of war has been strengthened, so less of the map will be revealed as the player explores. Humans and animals will be encountered less often, so hunting will take little more patience. Fast travel will also consume stamina and food.Takkar will o longer be able to “rain remote-control death on foes” by using his owl, and ammo crafting is no longer instantaneous. It will take a few seconds instead. He’s more susceptible to cold and more dependent on fire.Because of this, players will need to make crafting cold-weather gear “a top priority.”

There’s good news though, the duration of the player’s Hunter Vision has been increased. This will help the player out as as the nights are now “longer, darker and deadlier.”

Tamable beasts are less powerful, and creatures such as the sabretooth or bears can’t be tamed as easily as before. Instead, the player will have to fight them until they reach half-life before baiting and taming. Also, once an animal perishes, it won’t come back.

Animal companions can be saved before death, but they are no longer enemy fodder which can be brought back. This is especially true of Primal’s legendary beasts such as the Bloodfang Sabretooth. Once it’s lost, the player is out of luck. They’ll have to go tame something more common as a replacement.

The update comes with new Ubisoft Club challenges, as adding PlayStation Trophies or Xbox Live Achievements to a free update isn’t feasible, according to the developers. Those who complete the game in Survival mode will be also be handed a special reward.

Far Cry Primal’s Survivor mode will be available as a free patch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 12, and the PC patch will also add 4K textures to the game.

Gamestop May Have Possibly Leaked Final Fantasy XV for the PC

It appears that Gamestop may have possibly leaked the PC version of Final Fantasy XV. As we can clearly see, the PC logo being included in Final Fantasy XV’s background ad. Whether this is Gamestop’s fault or not remains to be seen. From the looks of it, the store may have leaked the PC version of Final Fantasy XV.

All you have to do is visit Gamestop’s homepage in order to see the ad. We expect Gamestop and Square Enix to update this ad in due time, therefore we captured an image.

:cool:Tom Clancy’s The Division – Free Incursions DLC Detailed, Coming On April 12th

    TI9oOOv.jpg

Ubisoft has detailed the first of two free expansions for Tom Clancy’s The Division. The Incursions DLC will be coming on April 12th, and will add a new endgame activity specifically designed for squad play.Incursions will also add a loot-trading feature, letting you swap items with your squadmates.

As Ubisoft noted, the first Incursion, titled Falcon Lost, is set in a completely new, underground water-treatment facility that’s been turned into a stronghold for the Last Man Battalion.

Here are the key features that will be coming to Tom Clancy’s The Division via this free expansion:

    • New gear is a vital centerpiece of Incursions, which introduces four rare gear sets: Sentry’s Call, Striker’s Battle Gear, Path of the Nomad, and Technician’s Authority. Each set is meant to bolster a specific play style; Sentry’s Call promotes consistent precision, Striker’s Battle Gear is for assault-focused players, and so on. Finding and equipping four pieces from a single set unlocks a new, never-before-seen talent for your Agent, which the developers aren’t revealing yet.

    • Agent level is still capped at 30, but your gear score can boost your abilities beyond your level, and are touted as a new way of leveling up for top-level players.

    • Loot trading is now possible; if you get good loot, you can now drop it on the ground and make it available to other players in your group. In the Dark Zone, you can only drop loot inside the Dark Zone gate.

    • Assignments are new tasks – killing 10 Cleaners, for example – that are meant as brief, optional side goals that update daily and can earn you Phoenix Credits, Division tech, and other rewards.

    • Supply drops will periodically fall from the sky in the Dark Zone, giving you and other groups something to battle over. They’re also protected by tough enemies, but the loot doesn’t need to be extracted, as it’s uncontaminated, and can’t be stolen once acquired.

    • When your Agent dies, you can now camera-follow your teammates, seeing what they see and offering tactical support.

    • Falcon Lost has two difficulties: Hard mode, which is recommended for players whose gear score is equivalent to level 31; and challenge mode, which is even tougher. Also, there aren’t any checkpoints in Falcon Lost; if your team goes down, you’ll have to restart from the beginning. Additionally, you can replay Falcon Lost and other upcoming Incursions as many times as you want and still be rewarded with new loot.

    • Enemies can now employ drones, aerial enemies that will be tricky to hit. You’ll also be pitted against an armored personnel carrier, which acts as a boss and is impervious to bullets, forcing you to find another way to deal with it.
