I have SOnyEricsson C702 (Integrated GPS,A-GPS) main application is Google Maps.

With A-GPS enabled I can connect within 10 sec even in indoors and sometimes outdoor cold start time 2-5 seconds. It take 1~4 minutes without A-GPS and outdoor. Data consumption in A-GPS (satellite lock) RX=2Kb TX=1Kb or less.

From google sat views, I can see our house and its very very accurate (after 5 minutes of satellite lock) I can see which room Im in. I can see home's roof top 5mmx5mm size.
In some areas sat view can't zoom much enough.

maps are very detaild in colombo and other urban areas. but I live in a village. so our road doesn't exist on the maps. but I can see it on sat view. even small roards.

Google map application that come with C702 also support for offline maps. but It try to connect net if something missing. data consumption is decent. its cost effective. but I used MGMaps which support for 100% preloaded offline maps. I downloaded maps, sat views and save it on memory chip. now gprs needs only A-GPS fix. (2-3 cents for session)

I have 5800 and followed all the steps correctly. unlocked the mcard renaming SW.UNL and the sl map to GMAPSUPP.IMG
pro is unlocked now but the slmap is not loading it says "no map"
    help plz

well, ur supposed to copy the GMAPSUPP.IMG to top level directory inside /Garmin folder of the memory card, where ur SW.UNL is.

ur /garmin folder 'should' contain the following ONLY -

    Apps,Cache,EULA,Font,GPX,Images,JPEG,POI,vehicle,Voice for folders and
GarminDevice.XML, GMAPSUPP.IMG,SW.UNL for files. u can how ever have the
GarminMobileXT.sis in there aswell. it doesnt do anything... incase u loose the prog from the Apps menu on the phone, u can go to /garmin/ and re run the installer app to get the app in the Apps menu...

btw, the folder POI is empty until u upload all the csvs of mine, the latest is 2010 file and the rest is on previous page, check my name and uploads... its a zipped file.

plz note, to have all the csvs in 1 folder so when u run POI Loader, it starts loading one by one the csv data. upload as proximity alerts and set target as 100m, i think, check my earlier posts, ive put that value.... too short and it goes off after u pass the point, too big, it goes off before u come to that point. sweet spot is 100m.. its been awhile since i uploaded POIs aswell... lol

thanks machan. keep up the good work!

it almosts sounds as a insult... lol..

for uploading and for it go off as a radar warning, set proximity alerts, its in my posts under my name... u have to do it manually for all the csv files, again, check my name, ull find the 2 zip files. latest is 2010.zip, others are found i think 2 pages back from this....

come on man, go around and get POI and share, i cant be doing all the work here...

thats the whole reason for me posting a forum so the community can help it advance....

Guys can somebody explain to me what POI is n wat it does

POI = Points of Interest, eg, hotels, fuel stations. normally all data is shown on a map, thats fine if u have a few points, see my work on google earth before and after to get a idea of how it will look with ALOT of POI. so, end result, u cant make out whats what, by loading via POI, u keep the map clean but adds the advantage of POI popping up like a annoying pop-up banner when ur close to a point, u control it by setting the target distance to warn u before u reach that point, set it too big, it goes off way earlier and set it too short, it goes off when ur just passing that point. both useless. u want it 'just' enough distance in advance to say, ur reaching this point, etc...

i cant be repeating over and over again whats what... all instructions/explainations all there, search my name. ull find all the data and instructions/explainations etc...

its not hard man. i designed it and made it simple as possible and told how to use it also. i did all the major work...u all have just to use it... it cant get any simpler than that....
