i hate to be the one with bad news but, yesterday i triple checked the data before uploading. and i thought it was fine but hell, it was far from being error free. just now i fixed every damn thing.... plz no more errors... lol
dont use my previous files, am uploading this one zip, it contains everything, corrected, quad triple re- corrected as of now and ive seperated the fields named Cp into a seperate csv, i did upload that 'separate' csv a long time ago, but, i collect so much data, it even confuses me. yesterday i had to compare 20 different data sets of same info to verify and even with that i made mistakes. today i went line by line.. now, perfect...
since ur new to this, the csv file named townnames.csv, i did 1 year back is fine, but then i found huge gaps, i started re correcting it but stopped coz i had to go abroad, and when i returned, i jumped to collecting new data so more and more pile up. ill be starting to continue from where i stopped for townnames starting next week. so when thats corrected, i need to verify which has to be done manually, and its 650 POIs i need to verify and best is, since i collected that data, whole new data sets for townnames came up in google so, i have to interpolate the old data over google to see where the gaps are and collect the 'new' data....
use 2010 data.zip for everything... its all in there. upload 1 by 1 using proximity alerts set manually to 100m warning... except checkpoints which is set to 400m by default, u dont want to 'suddenly' come upon it....

well, if i can help srilanka with 'latest ' advancements, then, i do and share with everyone for free. we have been backward for far too long, time to embraze the 22 century....
but, i ask, everyone here to do their part in 'collecting' new POI and share with everyone like i have, i cant do this on my own, its impossible but even that, i proved it wrong didnt i....
this, is the latest cutting edge research data which is verified and u wont find it anywhere else on the internet, i can guarantee u that, coz for one, no one else collects this much data on his own...lol.... i must be mad to even consider undertaking such a daunting task...
There are 2 gps providers currently in srilanka, licenced and legal - Dialog and Sun Lanka but both are so primitive in design and it has 1/10000th the data i have and both have flaws, in the case of Dialog, u cant drive over 50kmh and u cant go out of colombo, as in it, out of colombo doesnt exist. same for Sun Lanka system. and as for updates, its non existent, i asked all that. and its not portable.
are u familiar with google latitude ? if not, see the videos of it in youtube, am but it needs a working 3g connection, this u dont need, so, am working on a new prog to use those features and more, imagine the possibilities, a 911 call showing exactly where u are in srilanka, but u cant tell that to the police.. lol. also, on a more advanced feature, u get this function on new phones where u can remote lock a phone via sms, am gonna use that feature to locate a phone which is stolen.... possibilities are endless... but only downside, i cant program, so anyone who can, will be helpful, i can guide them in the implementation of 'latest' addons to garmin mobile xt...
besides. i made it cross platform, mass deployment with little or no IT skills needed for the end user, all instructions are there, all the user needs is to follow them.
also, working on real time tracking 'addon' for mobile xt... its gonna be great!!!...

umm, u better sit down first, take 20 deep breaths before u look at these data sets jpg format. i dont just do POI, i do tracks aswell, so i can verify its that point and to study the roads i go on...
these pics are for year 2010, done over a period of no more than 10 days... serious!!!
dont forget, i do this while driving, juggling 2 phones and a digital camera and drive fast yet no crashes...

but gps works anywhere in the world, u dont even need a sim card, phone can be offline. but sad to say, 5800 shit phone, always crashing. i had it, sold it within a month of buying it and got E75, first was E71 then went to 5800 hen to 2 E75, E75 so good, i bought 2 phones. i use 1 for navigation and other for POI marking...
but, E71 best for gps, 13 hrs gps use straight and while on a network ok. E75 struggled... at 6hrs... but thats with backlight on, on it.
and i didnt realise how bad the E71 was till i bought the E75, gps keeps on jumping even when stationary on it. so POI gets messed up. i had to redo all POI u see todays upload on E75...
to give u idea of how good E75 is, u load garmin, u get a warning screen, u click ok there and when u get to the main menu, i have a sat lock, under 3 secs, even during the may 14 heavy rains i got sat lock instantly...
ive got 10 gps sat lock inside 3 floors of sheer concrete, no outside view... and when i mean 10, its 10 permenant lock, not fading out 10 going down to 2 satellites ok....i get no less than 8 at any given time... and i live in colombo...

given the sudden and totally surprising earthquake across srilanka today. and having had to look for US based real time weather/earthquake/tsunami reports.
we should develop some POI to locate the "key" disaster monitoring stations in srilanka and publish all POI data as soon as possible...
i was amazed to find 'NO" srilankan website directly linked to a real time tracking station anywhere on the net given the earthquake tremor felt in parts of the island...
so, please, do your part and contribute to the POI database the relevant weather station POI as soon as possible...
