GPS SL walata active nahe bun!:angry:

your right, gps is not active for srilanka and all phones with gps are monitored by the gov and if found, they are taken by force and the person pocessing the phone is put in jail for life.

ofcourse, u wont have gps signals in gampaha for sure coz they specifically banned gps signals coming to your phone, and if your using dialog then your even more screwed too.

can i suggest you build a antenna from your phone into orbit touching any of the 32 gps satellites in orbit, they you ( may) get a signal.

u didnt know that, gov can block any signals if they choose to. and u didnt know that gov monitors anything whether internet or calls for the sake of national security as its the primary objective to safeguard the nation from any threat possible.

lol. mate, spend more time online and do some quality research on a topic of interest before you open your mouth and mislead everyone...

a phone is meant to be used to make phone calls, not track gps satellites. so i suggest u start using the phone as a phone not for something imaginary which is impossible to achieve unless yours a god.

if you want to navigate, go buy some quality srilankan maps from survey dept thats a better and safer option.

and, your responsible for safe guarding your properties like mobile phones, so if you loose your phone, please dont come cryin to us to give you another phone at the gov expense as we have more pressing things to do as a gov. also, i dont have to remind u that, nobody else can use your phone but you so your guilty as charged and may be put in jail for loosing your phone.

just keep that in mind...

lol...

dude, read post #81. then u will understand it...

if u still cant, get, i cant help you. but i do charge for psychiatric services...

theres that option for you aswell...

lol

ps: if this the case, then, why did i, spend 9 months developing it and shared everything freely. doesnt make any sense now does it. see all my posts. ive used it for 7 months before i posted to elakiri for your info...

your talking to the person who designed it from scratch and inform the community of its existence. fully field tested and verified etc.
i dont mislead anyone, its not my intention and aim in life.

all credits go to me.

i like challenges and i wanted to see if i can build a navigation system superior in everyway to whats out there on the market for srilanka and i achieved that and ive shared freely all my findings and methods i used to extract and compile.

it is now upto the forums to keep alive the dream i engineered from nothing for as long as its humanly possible and share freely as thats the ultimate goal, u cant put a price on something invaluable no matter what the circumstances may be...

from nothing, i created navigation, gave it life and now I handed it over to whole of srilanka as that was my intension, whether you mis use it or use it for good intentions is upto srilanka...

dude, go to defence ministry and ask them to show you what a gps looks like and say you want to buy one from them aswell. take loads of cash (Rs.300,000 + VAT) with you aswell.

dont forget to take these documents with you ok.

1) Your ID
2) Driving Licence
3) House deed ( to prove you actually live there)
4) Last 5 years of Bank statements
5) a neatly well written letter convincing them that you absolutely want a gps. just saying, I want to navigation on colombo roads wont do ok, some advice
6) sell yourself in the letter, thats convincing enough, but please dont beg. bad for you and bad for us poor srilankans aswelll lol
7) dont forget to wear 2 ball guards, ( can be bought closest to defence ministry at Chands Galle Road). trust me, ull need them more than me.

and when u get it, post pictures of it on elakiri for all of us to see..

to all users who test/install garmin on phone following my instructions. ive posted all the how to guides as detailed as i possibly can, the rest you have to figure it out on your own. google is your answer.

someone suggested i continue this project but i cant. but i can oversea the overall project, give my advice when needed. this is now, upto the srilankan community to contribute to the cause. all i did was, lay the foundation stone. now, u have to build upon it.

more the people mark points and share here, faster the database grows.

suggest u mark, hotels/restaurants/petrol sheds/supermarkets and name as such so the person using the data has a clue what is what.

and like i said, im one person adding points, if alot of them start adding, faster it grows. better for all of us..

but please, it has to be accurate, for instance, u mark mc donalds galle road from opposite side of the road is no good to anyone and can confuse the person using the data.

towns can be also mapped.

suggest u download garmin mobile xt user manual from garmin and go through the manual. best way is to mess around with it on your own, look inside each folder etc.

am on vacation....

thanks...

folks, i discovered a bug in garmin mobile xt.

my files show 6.912681422, 79.86829928 for a road, while correct one should be 6.912681,79.868299. look closer and ull see garmin inserted 3 extra numbers. it should be 6.912681,79.868299

last 3 on the left set and last 2 on the right set has to be edited off

have to re edit the files. someone can you redo it. am tired..

the attached pic shows the bug clearly. a simple edit wont fix it. tested that theory out last night...

fyi, yellow pin is the original location marked on google earth
grey box next to it is the location of the marker when converted using online conversion tool

the other grey box at the left bottom is what it shows where that point is, when i extracted the same data using cut paste method.

i guess cut paste on google doesnt work. didnt see this until yesterday.

the file townnames will work even with these errors as thats supposed to be towns so pin point accuracy is not needed. but i shall work on that aswell. for that file, the point may be +- 20m apart but thats for a town/city.

alldocs.zip corrected

the files i uploaded in all docs.zip have been corrected. i removed the townnames.csv as that contains massive errors so I have to re do it all from the beginning.

for now, these work. i double checked via google to make sure.

upload these to phone via poi loader, set 150m as proximity alert.

if u do want to use the townnames.csv until i correct it, its found in the all docs.zip file...

i checked the townnames aswell, that has a error of 0.77km (700m) but thats ok as its a town/city name.

took bout 10 mins to re do all. not bad for a old man...

lol

Im wondering how I can save a Simulated route in the garmin. And export as a GPX or something. So that I can view it on the Google earth in the PC.
