i have a 5800 navigation edition. and its very fast. even inside my home it gets a sat-lock withhin 2-3 seconds. thatswhy i like it much.
im wonder some guys need to wait 2-3 minutes.
yeah sure ill make this thread more popular.
your work is great, keep it up!
hey guys/girls. thanks for the comments and all.
like jason said, ur better off with nokia E71,E72,E75 etc. but avoid nokia 5800,N97 as they freeze and N97 have gps issues big time.
as for battery life, if u want the best battery life for the money u spend on a phone, trust me, ull thank me later. get a E71, its a good phone, i used it when i started mapping sl. ok, now, u better sit coz it will blow ur mind... ordinary dedicated garmin gps like etrex, vista handhelds work at best for 4-5hrs and can store 500 POI only. Nokia phones running GMXT have no limitation as far as i can see, ive uploaded 1 million poi as a test, which is 256MB of data on a memory card btw and it works. with 1GB memory cards, u can store 33 million POI based on my calculations... gettin back to battery life, dedicated gps is 4hrs, E71 with gsm cellular coverage enabled and GMXT running together with real time gps data logging, ive clocked it at 12hrs continuous usage. these are my field tested results. if i turned off all cellular coverage signals, im sure, id get even more.
but for marking POI, ur better with a E75, which is what i use, i use 2 of E75s, one for track recording/navigation, one for poi marking only. reason is, ive put these devices through their paces in the field and tested the limits and beyond. if i were to buy a new phone, id buy another E75, its that good. tho, now its a old phone... for gps, nothing else beats the price/performance/gps accuracy.
on a side note, if anyone of you all have Nokia 5800 phones and are having freezing problems, i can point u in the direction of Jason who has corrected the problems once and for all with his own firmware, u have to contact him for his help on the subject, he may charge a nominal fee for the service, but, to me, thats worth the money u pay him for solving the gps problems u face with the phone. and ull thank him each day when u use GMXT.
thanks
