Distance from the SLT EXCHANGE to ypur home has to be less that 4km for ADSL to work. Not the Distance from the SLT Office.
I've been through your situation. My advise is do not get ADSL unless SLT people checks and guarantees that they can give a stable connection. Otherwise, save your money and go with some other provider.

It'll be unbearable! Line dropping out every 10 minutes, Line drops if it rains, etc. Calling support and getting the line checked every 2 days.
You wont be able to get any work done.
I went through all that and finally switched to another provider.

Did you try Lanka Bell Wimax ?
