have a free un allocated space about 5 GB in your HDD. boot from the ubuntu CD and run the live version. After its booted up install that. & follow the procedure.
If you know english then you can install without any problems. :P :P

It asks for automatic partition and install ubuntu. dont select and select manual & make sure U select the free un allocated space in the HDD for ubuntu & it'll do the partitionaning inside that space as required.

Also in the boot order you can set it it auto boot ubuntu or windows if user does not select...

    yep this is da way....
make sure to select the guided partition and if you are not sure you gonna keep ubuntu forever,,,don't install GRUB boot loader(you can do this by clicking the advance cmd button). otherwise either you'll have to reinstall windows again or you'll have to repeir the boot loader..both things are boring;) ;) ;)

Start a live session. Then at desktop you will see ubuntu install icon. Then install it free location. Alternately you can give '/' to a partition with about 5 GB and swap for partition twice of your RAM (limit it to 1GB)

macho to install ubuntu..you must have some minimum system requirments..you must have minimum of 384 MB of ram.and 4-5 GB free space...if your system meets theas system requirments...
then the problem comes bcoz yor ubuntu CD may be damaged.try using another CD.bcoz there are some damage falts in some CD's.....
