hp has tainted their brand name
I think hp has now screwed up their brand name as a good laptop supplier. With the chinese suppliers going with manufacturing, the quality is now damn low. I have seen three laptops go bad which are all hp.
1. The Laptop I bought for my father
Got it from Barclays. it was a pavillion dv6000. It went dead after 3 months of usage. The damn board was not responding. When the power button was pressed, the fans came on and then turned off. And would do so repititively till I remove the battery.
Final outcome: Barclays took 3 weeks to repair it.
2. Brother's Laptop
HP TX series tablet. Everything works and within 15mins the screen goes haywire. The issue came up 1 month after the expiration of the international warranty. Even though the VGA is a separate chipset from ATI, the chipset is built onto the motherboard. So replacing the VGA means replacing the motherboard. Too costly
Final outcome: Laptop sits in my PC's table.
3. From a friend
Same issue with the VGA. He said he'd use a heat gun to re-solder the chipset to check for any loose contacts. Havent heard the outcome yet.
My opinion: Never Buy HP again! not even a matchstick!
