IT company Salary delay (is it ethical in Sri Lanka?)

    Hi Machanla,

    A company one of my friend works doesnt pay salary to employees in time. for example if the salary day is on 5th of every month these management would pay it on 10th or sometimes 15th.. this way its very difficult to company employees to move forward. this is happening from past few months and i would like to know from my Elakiri friends if you have faced any similar situations ?

    what is the way to deal with a situation as such ? can we file a case against the company ?

    According to the act ( act which those companies runs under ) employer can delay the salary till 10th of next month. if they pay after 10th then they have to pay small penalty fee.

    If you going to take actions for such these things nobody will ever employed you if they found out. lol. No employer needs such pain in the ass like you or your friend. ( I know when you ask for your friend , clear it is you the facing this issue )

    The finance not good these days for most companies. you have to have the patient or leave the company and find a better one

    if i was your friend i'd go and talk with HR department about this madness.
    if they refuse to get an immediate action I'll beat the fucking shit out of the Manager .

    Simply move to a another company you can get blacklisted among friendly companies if you file a case....this is siri lanka...

    I do not know exactly you can go legally on such a delay but better to talk with Labour Department on this matter.
    But you can take legal actions if they have not payed (or delayed) EPF, ETF.

    Yes I have worked in a company that delayed the salary & it is not ethical for sure but the company may struggling financially (have to think about the other party also).

    Machan talk to HR and see what the problem is, you can file a case/complaint easily but it might be a hassle for your later on!

    If they havent paid any past salaries, then take action. If they are going to continue this, tell your friend to go Job Hunting!
