Now WAIT just a god damn minute Mr. X-pert.

I have a seriouse question about this.

Let's not get out of hand take a simple example. You being a banker your self might agree with me that the norm salary of an avarege citizen in this country ranges around 15 K - 20 K

So, let' take a model citizen. A GUY, who's living alone in a boarding place and doing a Moderate Job, has a Girl Friend. AND for the sake of his well being, let's assume he get's a salary of 20,000

Rent for the boarding place (without food) - 5,000

Traveling to office (up and down) 50/- per day - 1,200

    Eating for the whole day @ 250/- - 7,500

Phone bill (he HAS a GF) - 2,000 (far lean, but let's assume)

Sundry items and toiletries - 2,000

Taking the GF out for a movie or a lunch - 3,000 (for the whole month)

AS YOU SEE, he has already over exceeded his budget. Only the last item in this list can be questionable... but any young guy will tell you that it costs around 1500 JUST FOR LUNCH at MC.

ALSO, we have to consider, the human side of all of us.

Each and everyone of us have a standard of living. We defy our standards based on the income level we get. A person who's plying in an AC bus for work will not go sweating in a "takaran" bus, JUST because the bus fairs has gone up 20%.

A person who eats bread for dinner will continue doing so. BECAUSE that's their standard of Living.

Hence, asking people to cut down their spenditure DOES not work on the practical level, because it clashes with the basic human needs of classfying them selves.

REMEMBER, X-pert, eventhough you may receive a staggering amount of Money as a Salary (Compared to SL), you ARE STILL GETTING A NORMAL SALARY IN THAT COUNTRY ! (so, you are NOT RICH) ... but, you have enough money to spend /live/save and of cource do what ever the heck you want with the rest.

HOW ? because the WORTH of a AUS$ is much more HIGHER than the worth of a SLRK !!

My pal, I don't agree with your view point. You have absolutely NO DAMN IDEA of the grass root level problem in Sri Lanka

 Who told you I'm a banker?

Well I was. But mow I'm an IT professional.

Anyway why going into that much personal level in a discussion?

Well... Since you're a lawyer you have a high class life style. So you say u don't get enough money

I don't accept the below projections u made:

    Eating for the whole day @ 250/- - 7,500

Phone bill (he HAS a GF) - 2,000 (far lean, but let's assume)

Sundry items and toiletries - 2,000

Taking the GF out for a movie or a lunch - 3,000 (for the whole month)

All the above can be done with a very low amount than what you've mentioned.

Well.. I don't know what you do with that amount of money. But my mum and dad both gets only 40,000 per month frankly. (Both I said!)

My sis goes to a English school in Colombo. And by bro goes to ANC. (Both have comparably high costs.)

But still they live a good life without complaining.

Yes they do minor complains saying it is hard to live. But no one has died because they can't afford to eat!

So if you want to live in Sri Lanka, live without complaining. Or else go to another country and wait like me. (again without complaining.)

I'm not rich. No one is rich in Australia. Because we all get the almost the same salary. My CEO gets $45 per hour and I get $30 - $35.

    1. The most cheapest rice packet is Rs.80 /- and you cannot have breakfast for less than 60/- - 70/- for the LEAST ! (anyone can correct me if I am wrong)

    2. A phone call (normal mobile - mobile) costs around Rs. 3/- or 4/- .. this plus SMS's and NOT only calls to his GF, what about his family back in the village ??

    3. you mean you want the guy to stink and live without atleast TEA ?

    4. You cheap Jackass  A movie ticket is around 250 now. A moderate lunch plate exceeds 300/- A simple snack and chat would cost around 500/- ... so 3000 bux is actually the cost of maintaining a cheap relationship.

    addition to that.

Not even in the god damn SOMALIA people die of Hunger. PEOPLE LIVE. But on what expence and at what cost to their mental depression and physical discomfot ?

I get enough money. I never said NO.. My damn fuel cost shoots over 30K a month and I have enough to waste my self every weekend getting so damn high that I need a parachute to glide down

But, IT's NOT ME we are talking about. we are talking about the normal everyday citizen who suffers because the god damn blunters of the Government who does not how to handle their own damn budget.

    Last part is true.

But by mourning and by blaming government you won't get anything.

Do hard work and get a good education and do a good job! Or else leave the country without suffering.

But if you do stay in the country, then live with it without mourning. That was my point.

Can agree to a certain extent...
but machan there are people who are suffering...
A recent central bank report has quoted that over 40% of people still get a daily wage of Rs.200/=... just tell me machan how can they manage...

You and I can manage thats true...but a whole lot of people doesnt know how to have their next meal... how to feed their children...

Minissu marenne naha kiuwata ehema na machan... minissu marenawa...
about a few days back a man hanged himeself of depression cos he couldnt find him self a way to feed his children...
I admit that it's not the answer... but we should realise that everybody's not educated enough to understand that...

Leave alone the electricity bills, Telephone and water...

Just think of the prices of vegetables,Rice, Coconuts, and other essentials... What can you buy for Rs.500/= leave aside Rs.200/=...

I'm not blaming any government but world leaders should do something sooner rather that later...

We are talking about people who find it hard to buy one Kilo of Rice @ 95 each to feed themselves. In what leangth would your statement suite them ?

We are talking about poor people commiting roberty to rake out a living and staying in JAIL for 6 months because they don't have 1500 to pay for Bail. (I am talking about their financial side, not the crime)

Besides...what else can people do bro ? what ELESE THEY CAN DO without mourning on their own pitty ?

Say you need to make an extra 5000 bux to live ?? where would you get it bro ?? WHERE ? that's the problem all people have now in Sri Lanka.

People already work hard, trust me ! they do work as hard as they can. But they end up with the same poor salary at the end of the month which is not even enough to cover the cost of travelling to work.

Don't talk theory bro. ! get down here and try to understand the real pain of the people.

It's no doubt that there's a heavy burden in our lives due to high cost of living and fuel hikes.. but like EXPERT says we have to do some alterations in our lifestyle and surviving in this situation...

    OK OK

    Then mourn forever!

Every political party did the same thing... and will do the same thing!

So according to both of you what is the solution? mourn everyday saying aiyo mata nam dan athi wela? jeewath wenna epa wela bla bla

    Oh c'mon....

OK then tell a good solution other than what I said :)
