Laptop එකේ Wifi speed 1මදි

මම මේ ලඟදි 1gig connection එකක් ගත්ත. මගේ lap එකෙන් ස්පීඩ් ටෙස්ට් එක කලාම 128mbps පෙන්නනේ. ඉතින් මම customer care call කලා. උන් කියනවා උන්ගේ ප්‍රශ්නයක් නෑලු. phone එකෙන් test කරලා බලන්න කිව්වා. මෙන්න 980mbps speed එක පෙන්නවා. Ookla එකෙන්. මේකට මොකද බන් කරන්න පුළුවන්. මම වින්ඩොව්ස් network settings දන්නා විදිහට් chk කරලා බැලුව .

See if your laptop's WiFi card supports 5GHz band. If so, set the preferred band to 5GHz vis device manager.
It's also good to have two dedicated SSIDs for 2.4GHz and 5GHz each on the router

125MBps = 1000 Mbps.

මගේ 1Gig ඉන්ටනෙට් තිබුනට wifi එන්නේ 400 Mbps වගේ. 1Gbps එන්නේ wired nodes වලට විතරයි

1 Byte = 8 bits

So if you measure in Mega Bits per second, it’s 8 times compared to the same thing in Mega Bytes per second.

Anyway Ookla should show the same thing no? whthr its bits or byts.. my mobile has relatively (8x) speed than my laptop. in same location. So im just wondering what is holding my laptop to connect to the that 8x speed that my ISP giving.

It seems your laptop doesn’t support 5GHz wifi. 2.4GHz can support upto 300Mbps but you get around 100Mbps practically. Your numbers perfectly match with these numbers

also you need to be very close to the router to get full speed even if you have 5GHz, you can test this with your phone.

can you try to connect your laptop via an ethernet cable and see how that goes


very similar thing happened to me recently, i can get above 250Mbps with fiber, i setup a new AP, and thst can only provide 100Mbps, turns out the AP’s ethernet port is 10/100Mbps.

Ookla unit and SLT units are similar, so it isn’t something to do with unit conversion.
