it's not said that cords are horizontal as well in which case it would be impossible to hold the weights
the CD cord should balance the 10N horizontal force as well as 5N vertical force
similarly AB cord will have to balance 10N horizontal force from CD cord and CD's vertical force + 0.5kg's weight

The diagram is totally misleading. It appears that everything including the strings are horizontal - That's why I said it's got to be on a smooth table.
