You may don't know but physics and chemistry people do depend on mathlab.
And it's heavily used in Sri Lanka.

Most of the engineers don't use but researchers who involved actual algorithm design use it for early prototyping.
My dream is to be a RFIC designer ( currently working as a firmware engineer but I hate engineering), and that subject is totally full with math and mathlab. Today modern physics is called computational physics. where a computer is involved in the process.
You won't be able to design a simple nand gate if you don't know the basics of computational electro-magnetism.
Trust me it's real R&D and it will take time , more time. But unlike an engineering job, it's won't be boring, you are dealing with cutting edge and bleeding edge problems. And everyday would be a new day.
